NBC Protecting Obama from Biden's Gaffe?
Weekly Standard ^ | 10/21/08 | John McCormack

Posted on 10/21/2008 1:15:55 PM PDT by acsuc99

A statement from McCain-Palin spokesman Michael Goldfarb:

"Joe Biden's commented on Sunday that Barack Obama's election as President would, within six months, result in 'an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.' Biden further added that the American people would not perceive Barack Obama's response to this crisis as correct. 'It's not gonna be apparent that we're right,' he said. Biden's remarks capture perfectly the message of this campaign: Barack Obama is too risky, too inexperienced, to serve as commander in chief--that his election by itself will provoke our enemies, and that his brief record raises serious questions as to how an Obama administration would respond to such a challenge.

"This campaign highlighted Biden's remarks throughout the day yesterday. We held a conference call with Mayor Giuliani who asked what Joe Biden meant. We released a statement highlighting Biden's remarks and asking what kind of crisis his unconditional meetings with the leaders of rogue states might provoke. Our surrogates and spokesmen also noted the comments in radio and TV appearances. Yet on NBC Nightly News last night, when Andrea Mitchell reported on Biden's remarks, she failed to play the relevant portion--the portion that this campaign and a variety of news outlets had found controversial, or revealing as the case may be. Instead, Ms. Mitchell played a tape of Joe Biden talking about how Barack Obama has 'steel in his spine.'

"This morning, on MSNBC, the network again aired the tape of Biden, and again they aired the segment in which Joe Biden heaps praise on his running mate. But Joe Scarborough noted that the network had played the wrong clip, and that what Joe Biden said directly reflects the central criticism this campaign has made of Barack Obama: that his inexperience, his poor judgment, and his foreign policy proposals will, in Joe Biden's words, 'guarantee' a crisis.

"So how is it that NBC repeatedly failed to play those remarks?"

Easy- nbc/msnbc aren’t news outlets. Why would they show news?

Of course they are. What nobody seems to remember, and has slipped everybody's mind these past few years, is how our enemies respect and fear the U.S. because of the strong response of President George W. Bush. If Al Gore had been President, he'd have spent 3 weeks huddled in the corner of the Lincoln Bedroom, rocking back and forth, muttering, "Daddy never said there'd be days like these, daddy never said there'd be days like these......" over and over. I distinctly remember Democrats speaking WAY off the record, thanking the Lord that George W. Bush was President during this time, instead of Algore, because he was the better leader (if you think otherwise, then why didn't the Senate vote to convict Bill Clinton in 1999, and set up Al Gore in a sweet spot to get easily re-elected?)

If B. Hussein Obama was president during 9/11, I'd have a sneaking suspicion that he'd be quietly cheering the fact the Great Satan got its comeuppance, while publicly urging calm and healing, and promising to negotiate with al-Queda and the Taliban to try to understand their rage.

Let’s see.

“Testing” means we get attacked, or at best, challenged in some serious way—hostage-taking or something similar.

What would the American people consider a “correct” response?

Striking back, neutralizing the enemy, defending ourselves.

Biden says the American people are going to perceive Obama’s response as not “correct.”

Okay. Here’s Biden, decoded: Our country is going to be attacked, and Obama is going to surrender to the attackers.

Very good decoding.

Everyone should email NBC and demand they show the truth, even if they igonore us, at least their email boxes will be flooded. I sent mine. It felt good to tell them what scum they are.

BTW-would love to hear Biden elaborate on this:

'It's not gonna be apparent that we're right,' he said.

Does Andrea Mitchell have no boss? She constantly shows total scorn for republicans and conservatives. She is not attractive. She is not young. She is not intelligent. She’s not even a real blond! She lied in the Plame case, first saying everyone knew Plame was a CIA agent and then recanted saying , “What?”. She is totally deceitful and disengenuous. Not even clever. I heard her playing word games about the correct Biden clip, on Rush. She thought the only “relevant” part was “spine of steel” and not all the other disquieting things Biden said about Bambi.

She should be fired immediately, if not 10 years ago.

Good summary of Andrea. One thing to add: I met her briefly on the Amtrak Metroliner between NYC and DC about 15 years ago.

She has nice legs.

Text of e-mail that I sent to NBC and CBS, ABC wouldn’t allow but 500 characters:

Dear News Department,

I am writing to advise you that if you refuse to report Senator Joe Biden’s full remarks that he made at a recent fundraiser that I and thousands, maybe millions of other people will hold you personally responsible for collusion with the Obama team to keep the masses purposefully ignorant on the warning about Senator Obama that Senator Biden gave. The remarks that I am referring to are:

“Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he’s gonna have to make some really tough — I don’t know what the decision’s gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it’s gonna happen.”

The American people have the right to know what our possible vice president is saying about the Democratic candidate for president behind closed doors and the risks that an Obama presidency could entail.

I assure you that if you sweep this under the rug along with the host of other issues that you have not reported and do not report this on the network nightly newscasts (not everyone has cable tv) using the very recording of him saying this so it cannot be denied and our country is attacked and lives are lost that you will be held accountable and guilty. This is the United States of America and we will not stand for our country being undermined by a media that obviously does not hold our country’s national security and sovereignty in no higher esteem than what they have displayed in this election cycle. No wonder your ratings are falling. We can’t trust you to tell us the truth. We deserve better.

A VERY CONCERNED CITIZEN
