Afternoon team Mark Mason and Dave Anderson at talker KEX (1190) asked listeners to donate through "SaveJoeThePlumber.net", and they came through - enough to pay off Joe Wurzelbacher's $1,200 bill for back taxes to the state of Ohio, and enough to help him get his plumber's license (another $500). Mason tells the Wall Street Journal they had both Joe and his brother on the air, and Joe "was very grateful for the $$." Joe the Plumber became an overnight sensation for both sides of the presidential debate last week, when John McCain kept bringing up the effect of Obama's tax policy on a supposedly average American worker during the third debate.
that is funny.
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought he turned down any donations for this on Huckabee’s show
Joe should say thank you and tell them to donate it to charity.
Joe accepting it is not what a conservative would do in my opinion.
That is why I said no to donating.
Good for Joe! He is one of the hard working American’s we all cheer for on a daily basis.
We also cheer for all small businesses. The resturant’s,Car repair shops, Lawn services,Moving Companies,Dry Cleaners, Heating & Cooling companies,Truck Drivers, grocery stores, etc etc etc.
Makes a great sign!
Maybe he does not like Huckabee?
ah...it’s the thought that counts though
that would be like spreading the wealth. Joe says no.
In normal circumstances, I would agree. But Joe sacrificed his private life in order to expose Obama. Helping him pay off his taxes and get his plumber’s license (if he wishes to do so) seems reasonable.
Not only that, but these donations are voluntary. Big difference that Barry hasn’t quite figured out.
The conservative thing is to not take government money to fix your problem.
There’s nothing wrong with this -
I love that little ditty..ha.
Call Joe the plumber
That’s the name
And away goes Barry
Down the drain!
Susan Davis reports on the presidential race.
Shortly after John McCain made Ohio plumber Joe Wurzelbacher a household name following last Wednesdays presidential debate, reporters and bloggers soon discovered a couple problems with Joes everyman story.
First, they discovered his name wasnt exactly Joefull name Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. Then, it turned out that while he practices the trade, Joe wasnt a licensed plumber. And finally, while Joe was bemoaning Barack Obamas proposed tax increases, the Ohioan was also delinquent on paying his ownwith a $1,200 tax lien against him by the state of Ohio.
In response to the media coverage, two local Portland, Oregon radio hosts launched www.savejoetheplumber.net to help Wurzelbacher pay his back taxes.
Portlands 1190 KEXs afternoon News Radio hosts Mark Mason and Dave Anderson succeeded in that goal today, not only raising the $1,200 Joe the Plumber needs to pay his taxes, but also the $500 hell need to get his plumbers license.
In an e-mail to Washington Wire, Mason writes that the hosts spoke to Wurzelbacher and his brother on air tonight to break the news. We just spoke with Joe (and his brother) LIVE right now felt that the media was unfair in that they never seemed to ask HIM about his background, Mason wrote this evening, He was very grateful for the $$.
The interview will be available on the Web site.
First, they discovered his name wasnt exactly Joefull name Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. It's outrageous and scandalous how Republicans go out of their way in trying to deceive people. They have the nerve to hide their true identity by using a common nickname for their middle name. (Do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
Yeah, it’s conservatives helpin’ a brotha out. Barry certainly never offered him a penny. OUR penny he would have offered, but not his.
of note, one of the comments to the WSJ piece:
>>Joe, Be A Man. Conservatives donate far more to charities than Liberals, and are the primary source of charitable income. The rest of you ignorant asses, Joe was unaware of the Lien. Joe was in the process of getting his license when the school he was attending went under. Joe does not need a license to do his job, he can work under his employers license. No go back to bashing innocent Americans, to which Liberals seem to be soo good.
yes, it’s charity not welfare/govt. handout
I suggest the presidential candidates do the same as Joe and refer to themselves by their middle name. Let’s see, do I
vote for...Sidney...or...Hussein?
