Joe the Plumber has friends at KEX, Portland - who pay his taxes for him
radio-info.com ^ | 10/21/08 | radio-info.com

Afternoon team Mark Mason and Dave Anderson at talker KEX (1190) asked listeners to donate through "SaveJoeThePlumber.net", and they came through - enough to pay off Joe Wurzelbacher's $1,200 bill for back taxes to the state of Ohio, and enough to help him get his plumber's license (another $500). Mason tells the Wall Street Journal they had both Joe and his brother on the air, and Joe "was very grateful for the $$." Joe the Plumber became an overnight sensation for both sides of the presidential debate last week, when John McCain kept bringing up the effect of Obama's tax policy on a supposedly average American worker during the third debate.

Joe should say thank you and tell them to donate it to charity.
Joe accepting it is not what a conservative would do in my opinion.
That is why I said no to donating.

I disagree. There's nothing unconservaive about giving to others (as long as it's not mandated by the state) or accepting a gift from someone.

If I heard correctly, on Hannity/C last night Joe said he was unaware he owed the taxes...had not gotten a notice.

"In normal circumstances, I would agree. But Joe sacrificed his private life in order to expose Obama. Helping him pay off his taxes and get his plumber’s license (if he wishes to do so) seems reasonable."

I agree. I heard the business he works for was shut down because of no license.. Any trith to that?

I see nothing wrong with Joe excepting the money. He probably didn’t want to seem unappreciative to the people who donated. He has taken a lot of his time to help the McCain/Palin ticket.

As a Conservative I have no problem with Joe accepting help that he did not solicit. People are acting from the kindness of there heart and their is no government confiscation of a person's money to give to Joe. Big difference in my opinion.

It’s outrageous and scandalous how Republicans go out of their way in trying to deceive people. They have the nerve to hide their true identity by using a common nickname for their middle name

Well you know how they HATE middle names . . . why I never hear Obama’s middle name used. They do not recognize middle names or they might have to deal with a middle name they pretend does not exist. You know . . . STEVE

It was voluntary, I don’t see anything anti Conservative with accepting the effort as Joe never put his hand out, and this money was raised before Joe W said he didn’t want any donations on Huck’s show.

I agree . . . The guy has had enough liberal crap smearing his name because he is a common Joe that works hard. The kind of guy they want to take $$’s from and give to ACORN. God Bless him and I hope his business flourishes and he is blessed with a McCain/Palin tax plan.

It's up to him whether he accepts the gifts or not. I'm okay either way. Nothing was done under coercion. But Joe Wurtzelbacher seems to me to be the kind of guy who would appreciate it more if he were hired to do an honest days’ work for reasonable pay. A steady job with decent pay, a chance to build for the future and fulfill your dreams. Sounds like the America I knew. Won't be that way under Uberfurher Obomber.

I had a tax lien against me, they never informed me and it was bogus! Cleared it up as soon as I found out about it but one slimy credit check company still carries it ten years later...

I see nothing wrong with accepting the donation. I also see nothing wrong with him donating an equal or greater amount, when he can afford to, to an appropriate cause (BSA, NRA, GOP, or some other patriotic organization), but I don't see a matching donation as necessary, just likely if he's the kind of guy he looks like.

If you recall, as soon as Bill was elected, Hillary started going by Hillary Rodham Clinton. I guess she wanted to make a *name* for herself.

The media stopped referring to her as that the moment that Hussein announced his candidacy, in order to prevent tainting HIM with the full 3 names.

Pay for his plumber’s license?

Why doesn’t Ohio just give him a license? After all, his intentions are good in that he’d like to be a good plumber. And, besides, if he has a license, what about all of us who don’t have one? Spread the licenses around, so we can all be equal. Don’t even think of telling us that merit has anything to do with it.

I see no reason why Joe should not accept money freely gifted to him? My church does not spread the wealth when we as members donate to those in need. It is given through love and compassion as directed by Christ.

How can we put free donation in the same category as forced theft our money for redistribution of wealth. Good people and churches have freely given since the beginning of this nation. To put charity or free donation on the same level as redistribution of wealth would appear to imply everyone for themselves and never freely help others.

He’s now going to called an income tax evader if he doesn’t pay taxes on this gift.

where’s the deception? He was not hiding his name. Joe is short for Joseph. The Dems always see something wrong with somebody who does not agree with their beliefs.

I agree completely. He probably didn’t want to seem ungrateful to all the listeners who had given out of the goodness of their heart. He has paid a personal price for questioning Barack Obama, and deserves support.
