Alledgedly, people want change. Well, we had change in 2006 and we’ll get more change in 2008 regardless of who is elected. Do people really want *that* much change, though? The last time we had a fully Democratic controlled government were the first two years under Clinton. If that worked so well, why did Democrats lose so many seats the next election?
Republicans were in the majority during Bush's term until the 2006 elections.
Democratic control of the Senate, House of Representatives, and White House is what our once great country enjoyed from Bill Clinton’s election in 1992 until the Gingrich takeover in 1995. The Democrats’ efforts resulted in the greatest prosperity the world has ever known, including over 23 million new jobs in just 8 years.
The economy was in recovery when Clinton was elected, and the growth rate of the GDP when he was sworn in was 2.9 percent.
Two years later, when Gingrich was handed the gavel, the GDP was down to 0.9 percent, almost two-thirds. The Democrat Party had squeezed the vitality out of the recovery with ill-advised tax hikes, and it took the Gingrich congress to balance the budget. The market took off after that.
The Democrat Party played no role in the prosperity enjoyed since the first Reagan term through today, other than to obstruct it when the controlled the economy.
In fact, they portend the same ruinous Democrat prescription if this nation is foolish enough to hand them the trifecta in two weeks.
Doubtful they will, for the reasons outlined above.
This shows rough makeup of the Senate, House, and Presidency. Xs represent Democrat majorities. Os represent Republican majorities. One X/O indicates 50 to 55 percent. Two X/Os represents 55 to 60 percent. Three X/Os represents 60 percent or greater, primarily of relevance to the Senate as 60 percent gives a filibuster-proof majority. This data is taken from Wikipedia. The last column shows those periods when the House, Senate, and Presidency were all controlled by the same party. This is listed by two-year congressional period. The current congress is the 110th Congress. So when did government work best?

Ouch. It looks like I have a few errors here. This was due in part to Excel automatically finish some of my entries. I have two letter when I should have only one.

You need to explain this to the South Carolina freepers. Many of them say say on the one hand that we "can't risk electing a single Democrat" that could "give the Dems a vote proof majority", yet on the other hand, they cheer on the allegedly "conservative" Democrat running against Lindsey Graham -- a Ron Paulite surrender monkey who wants to dismantle our millitary and "bring them home" and who quit the GOP because the party won't play nice with Islamofacists -- and who is pledged to vote for Harry Reid to run the Senate and for the Dems withdrawl agenda. Bob Conley OPPOSED the surge (yes the very thing that turned the tide in our favor in Iraq), and STILL won't admit he was wrong.
A vote for Bob Conley (D) is a vote for Harry Reid and stabbing our troops in the back
You have to wonder how stupid Republican functionaries are.
They are JUST NOW getting the message that they are losing bigtime?
They didnt “get it” when Giuliani flopped, and when Mehlman was tossed out of the RNC?
They didnt “get it” when they hooked up with the nincompooneos and obeisantly religiously-cleansed the Repub party so the pukes could “feel more comfortable.”
They didnt get what the repercussions would be when they kicked conservatives to the curb-—the self-same conservatives who gave Repub unprecendented majorities and control of the federal govt for years?
They didnt “get it” when they pushed for amnesty (when even a retard knew illegals would vote Dem)? They didnt “get it” when Rove stupidly sucked-up to La Raza? When Mel Martinez was tossed out of the RNC?
“Stupidity” cannot even begin to describe these people.
They still don't.
How many times, and how big, does the loss have to be before the Repubs “get it?”
Just wondering (snicker).
It falls on the definition of “loss.” I think some of these “pubs” would rather have a Dem than a conservative in office.
I feel like apologizing when I call them "Stupid Party". It just never seems adequate enough.
Republicans will kill your Children!!!!!!
