My leftist sister and brother-in-law wear Carharts out of a totally phony identification with “the people.” Never mind that he won’t work and she’s from the snootiest of NE suburbs...

It is interesting to note that despit whatever else is said in the article that the picture contains 60% women and 40% men including the shirtless guys. That's probably because all the working-aged men are at their jobs! :)

Our rednecks in south east Texas are heavily descendant from Czech’s. (Have you ever ate a Kolache? No? Pooooor you.)

My thoughts exactly - I’m surprised Mark didn’t include an illustration of a burly type, or put the article in National Geographic instead. What a hoot.
Let’s see - I’m betting a million $ that he’s NOT “the burly type” and has never set foot on a farm, either. LOL

The film moves at a relaxed pace. But so does its geographical setting.
It isn't the greatest film of all time, but it is a stylistically different comedy that did not depend on nauseating gags to advance the story.

It seemed to be channeling the poseur solipsism of Rushmore which also rubbed me the wrong way.

I enjoy Wes Anderson - but to appreciate him you cannot take him nearly as seriously as he takes himself.
Whimsy only goes so far.
BTW, I cannot recommend highly enough the Criterion reissues of Le doulos and Le deuxieme souffle.
They made me want to rewatch The Day Of The Jackal.

Not sure about any ofthe other movies mentioned but Napaleon Dynamite is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. My whole family loves it.
But to each his own.
“Like you could even KNOW that!”

I think it would be priceless to see Palin sitting beside Pelosi, while Hillary and Obama are sitting out on the floor, when McCain delivers his first State of the Union address...As President...
