The Asian press is raising some interesting questions about the behavior of the American media and their refusal to ask certain questions. They seem confused about what liberal and conservative mean in America but it’s an interesting read.

In most parts of the world, liberal and conservative means just the opposite of what we use. Conservative means "keep existing structure" and liberal means "give more power to the lower classes or to individuals". In US, the Constitution gave power to individuals, so technically, we already had a "liberal" gov't. In US, conservative means keep power in the hands of individuals, not gov't. So we are out of step, technically.
In Europe, to liberalize the phone companies was to take them from the gov't and to privatize them. Asia is using the UK definitions when they write English articles.
