"I think you have hit it. I watch MSNBC to see how they are spinning it because you can see right through what they are doing. Obama does everything for political gain. When they said that Obama was going to be going off the trail for 4 days they kept up the picture of young Obama with his white grandparents. They kept this picture up a long time. Why would the Obama campaign give MSNBC this picture?
The Obama campaign with their thousands of pollsters must be doing terrible with voters because of Obamas association with Jesse Jackson, Farakan, and Rev. Wright. I also believe taking 4 days off he is trying his best to stop the bleeding. Obama has lost momentum from the attacks from the McCain campaign and they will keep coming. He is trying to stop the freefall in the polls."
If I had to guess, I bet he's doing poorly among older white Democrat voters who can't relate to him. Maybe it's just because he's "too foreign" or "he's got a weird name", etc...This could be hurting him not just in rural areas, but in the burbs and even in urban areas in which he expects to run huge margins.
This whole 'rush to grannie's bedside' thing is planned. Now he gets to highlight that he has a white family, get a little sympathy, and try to stop McCain from attacking for multiple days in a row, here 2 weeks away from the election.
I think the attacks on his economic policy are working, and I think the attacks on his character too are taking their toll. We clearly do not know much about this guy. Sure, in theory he sounds good, but once you start to take a closer look at him, a lot of questions emerge.
Pausing the campaign will probably freeze the attacks from the McCain campaign, which is unfortunate as I don't seem to recall the Obama campaign stopping its campaign back when McCain stopped his. Frankly, if Obama is still running ads then the campaign is live.
In addition, this will give Obama to introduce his family to those who are just now starting to decide who they are going to vote for.
Obama did coke. Sorry, but that's a big issue. It's also quite possible that he dealt. When it comes to his character, while I think the relationships with Ayers and Wright are egregious, at the end of the day those have limits. But is America ready to elect a cokehead as its president? Do the American people even know he did coke? Would you let a former cokehead work on your car or watch your children? The GOP has to start hammering him on this. Sorry, but if all of the personal crap the media and the Dems have thrown at McCain and Palin is relevant, then it's quite relevant that we learn more about Obama's cokehead period. When did he stop doing lines? Who supplied him? What crimes did he commit in order to support his drug use? Did he become addicted? How'd he quit?
