The wife of Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney filed for divorce today, one week after news broke that Mahoney had an affair with a former staffer and paid her $121,903 to stop a threatened lawsuit.
Terry Mahoney filed papers at the North County Courthouse in Palm Beach Gardens, which said the marriage is "irretrievably broken".
Terry Mahoney filed for divorce from her husband, Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, who put his mistress on his congressional and campaign payrolls and then paid $121,903 to hush her threatened lawsuit.
She appeared with her husband, but did not speak last Tuesday when Mahoney made a 2-minute appearance before reporters. In that appearance, the congressman acknowledged causing "pain" in his marriage.
Later in the week, Tim Mahoney gave a series of interviews in which he acknowledged "multiple affairs" while in office. He would not be more specific, saying only that "multiple" means "more than one."
Mahoney also admitted to having an affair with a Martin County government official whom he met in 2007 when she and other county officials came to Washington to seek reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Mahoney faces a reelection challenge from Republican Tom Rooney. He has resisted calls to resign or drop his reelection bid.
A spokeswoman for Mahoney's congressional office had no comment.

How’s that for loyalty?
Well, that’s one seat Republicans get back!

Mahoney is a real scumbag. Never believe a ‘RAT when they are making campaign promises. They always make them with a smirk on their mug.

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
I hope she takes this RAT for everthing she can get!
If it weren’t for the financial crisis, republicans would probably have had a good chance of gaining a few seats this november due to this scandal.
It’s very wrong to gloat over the misfortunes of another, but Mahoney brought all of this on himself.
We’re still waiting for Nancy “Drain the swamp” Pelosi to ask for his divorce form the party.
He represents a Republican district, so he is gone this November.
On the other hand, I lived just south of Palm Beach, and Mahoney would still win in the Boca Raton area. As long as there is a “D” after his name.
I was just going to say, Can we go ahead and count this one as a win for Rooney?
Very, very pricey p*ssy.
Hey, this wipes the slate clean. He is a free man..so anything he does or has done is ok. Get it?
I’m sure that the Rat party will help with his divorce settlement. Some secret friend will pay off his ex to shut up and go away. I only hope that she holds out for a really big number for not going on whatever non-Rat media is left.
