From Table 1. Firearm Deaths in 2003
Total Firearm Deaths 30,136
Homicides 11,920 (39.6%)
IIRC, firarm homicides were about 14,000 last year. So total firearm homicides were about 50,000 since the end of the ban. You would need at least 500 dead from so called "assault weapons" to make one percent. This figure of 163 killed is about one third of one percent. Is this supposed to be significant?
P.S. Printer friendly was not reader friendly. You had to keep scrolling right and left in an oversized format for the Brady gang's story.
All ya gotta do is ban crime and bad moods.
Brain-dead Sarah Brady is just warming up for when her sweatheart Obama gets in.
This post was for fools; right?
However, it is encouraging that criminals were nice enough to wait for the law before committing criminal gun acts.
This is a typical example of the warped liberal logic. We DONT TRUST the people so we write a law and then we DO TRUST the criminal to obey the law.
Do you really want people who subscribe to that kind of logic in charge of your government?
Go Sarah!
It would have happened with or without the Assault Weapons Ban, and the liars doing the research know it. Bans only affect law abiding gun owners who aren’t going to murder anyone, anyhow. I guess the gun grabbers are getting warmed up for a complete assault on the 2nd Amendment once the Obama Reich is in place.
Its an old ploy to blame the gun for the crime, not the criminal that pulls the trigger. The ban on so-called assualt "style" weapons is irrelevant to someone hell bent on committing a crime.
I heard a great one liner the other day and it’s something that I’d like the Brady Campaign to address if they have the steel orbs to do so...
“Where in US Code does it justify execution for a $200 tax violation?”
There have been hundreds of American Citizens murdered for exactly that by a taxing agency. Which agency? Why the BATFE of course. No other agency will bash your door in, shoot your dog, stomp your cat, molest your wife and children, and then murder you for what is most likely the error of the BATFE and the NFRTR database (see US v. Friesen 2008 out of Oklahoma City) and then they call it a good bust and demand more of our tax money to kill more of us.
If the Brady bunch wants to talk about a ban, ban the BATFE then we’ll talk about other things. Until then, they can take a long walk off a short pier...
Mike
Well I guess we have the Brady Center attempting to lay groudnwork for a reimposition of the AW ban with their agitprop.
Buy them now, you may need them and it will be to late soon.
It’s all fun and games until someone puts an eye out.
Somebody find the FBI statistics for type of firearm used. I know they’re around, I just don’t at all know how to find them.
Restrictions on assault weapons, which drew support from Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, have been addressed by both major candidates for President: "Senator Barack Obama has stated as recently as his convention acceptance speech that it is imperative that criminals be denied the use of assault weapons," the report says. "Senator John McCain, who has opposed the NRA on gun shows and other issues, has been firm in his opposition to an assault weapon ban."Thanks neverdem. How many were killed during the ban? And why, if the President supports such a ban, hasn't the DEMOCRATIC PARTY MAJORITY IN BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS SINCE EARLY 2007 reimplemented the ban? Looks like another addition to the stinking pile of failure by those mealy-mouthed a-holes and their partisan media shills.
The first commercially mass-produced semi auto rifle was the Remington model 8 (later modified as the model 81) which hit the market in—1908. This must have caused the well-known great crime wave of 1909. /sarc.

Biden says he would not restrict gun ownership "And legislation in relation to assault weapons doesnt affect hunters or sportsmen."
2 gun-control bills introduced in Council (PA) Thanks rats!
And since it's not law abiding citizens who kill people with assault weapons, it would be a pretty good guess that the criminals would have got them anyways, lifting the ban notwithstanding.
It's called the black market, something the liberals deliberately overlook.
How many of the purported assault weapon deaths were from weapons sold AFTER the ban was lifted, that would have been prevented by the ban?
A tiny fraction I’d guess.
and how many people were killed by assault weapons under the ban?
the people who follow the gun laws are statistically the ones who don’t commit crimes
the bad elements of society are always going to out gun the non criminal elements if the laws are harsh on the only the law abiding citizens
