>>So no matter who wins, when this is all over and we have our new president and things don’t get any better, all I can say is “Don’t blame me, I wrote in Ron Paul.”
>
>That is exactly the reason why the author can be blamed

Why do you say that? Honestly, how do our Electoral Colleges work? Is a vote for Ron Paul a vote against McCain? Obama? For McCain, or For Obama?

In a tight race like this, a vote for anyone but McCain is a vote for Obama.

I suppose the author is one of those people who was perfectly happy staying home in 2006 and giving Congress to the Democrats.

Actually Ron Paul has endorsed Constitution Party Candidate Chuck Baldwin. If you live in a state that is not a toss up you should vote for Chuck Baldwin, the real conservative. If he’s not on the ballot vote write him in if you can or vote for Bob Barr or Alan Keyes.

Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford are real conservatives. Baldwin is just a nut and a 9/11 truther.

There is no point to these wacky 3rd parties and they don’t deserve to be dignified by anyone’s vote.

there are many kinds of gold standards. The basic idea is just as a meter is defined by reference to the fixed distance traveled by light for a certain time, and then we can use the meter to compare lengths, so too the dollar should be defined in reference to weight in gold so that we can use it to compare prices.

Instead, we have all of this speculation and hedging that is out of control.

Again, not related to fiat money.

Just like bank lending and the resultant money creation, the speculation and hedging can occur regardless of a gold standard. The speculation and hedging wouldn't be as bad if the lines between banking and investment banking hadn't been blurred by the repeal of Glass-Stegall.

The options and futures used in Hedging requires massive amounts of lending. I agree they should be looked at and probably regulated to prevent abuse. But it wouldn't be prevented by a gold standard.

you’re for regulating something that shouldn’t be a problem in the first place. A gold standard means the market, not a bunch of ‘gurus’ in a closed room, determines the economy. What we have now is a Soviet style command over the $.

If he doesn't vote for John McCain, we can be sure that thousands...perhaps millions...will give a rat's ass.

The young genius rabscuttle385 is a genuine college student...full of wisdom, insight, political acumen and life experience.

Instead of providing a logical argument as to why I should vote for McCain, you (and the majority of other McCain supporters I have encountered here on FR) would prefer to cast stereotypes ("oh, he's just a college student!" and "unless you have been tortured like McCain, you don't deserve a voice"), to rely on illogical arguments ("if you don't vote for McCain, you are an Obama supporter!"), or to blame the rightly disillusioned and disgruntled voter ("when McCain doesn't win, it will be your fault because you didn't vote for McCain") instead of focusing on the real problem: that McCain does not represent the largely conservative electoral base of the Republican Party.

No, you, as a Party Firster, would rather rely on a campaign of intimidation and arrogant elitism...playing on the fear and the stupidity of ordinary Americans. Just remember, though: when you vote for anyone who's better than the worst, you will vote for anyone.

I've been in this life only twenty-two years, but thank God that my parents (and the schools I attended) instilled in me the notion of right and wrong and the idea that I must do what is right, all the time, even when no one else is looking or no one else cares.

Of course, you would have me abandon those principles and those truths that I hold dear to vote for someone simply because he is a Republican. With that kind of logic, if Obama were to join the GOP and run for office under the banner of "conservativism," we should all vote for him!

If he doesn't vote for John McCain, we can be sure that thousands...perhaps millions...will give a rat's ass.

Maybe, maybe not. But, all it takes is for a few thousand more voters who think like me to turn their backs on the GOP, and McCain will lose by mere fractions of a percent, just like Allen in 2006.

The poster perhaps believes this nation under a Constitution will endure an Obama presidency for four or eight years. Their immaturity is their blind spot.

The Constitution is no impediment to Obama. He ignores it when it serves him to do so and he is not challenged even now, before he has ascended to power.

The posters trying to be relevant by defeating McCain/Palin are assisting in the final Marxist takeover just as surely as if they voted for Obama ... and frankly, their tactics at FR appear to indicate they will do that, vote for Obama, to make good on their 'retribution for Americans, for not being pure enough to suit them.'

Not with 100% reserve banking.

So with 100% reserve banking, you pay a fee to the bank to hold your money instead of it paying you interest. Further, there is an enormous opportunity cost with all the gold sitting in vaults, and depositors still run the risk of having their deposits get taken by thieves.

How about the lines between investment-grade securities and junk?

Na, its more like needing attention.....being a romantic...you know.....like this is a Hollywood movie where the knight in shining armor comes to the rescue in 4 years, and slays the Obama, lol.

If only.

But, at least there are still about 30% of grown-up Americans left in this country to battle him. The rest are leftwing kooks and rightwing snivelers.

The Constitution is no impediment to Obama. He ignores it when it serves him to do so and he is not challenged even now, before he has ascended to power.

Both parties—Republican and Democrat—have repeatedly ignored the Constitution over the past eight years. The bailout is only the most recent incident in a long line of abuses emanating from both parties.

The posters trying to be relevant by defeating McCain/Palin are assisting in the final Marxist takeover just as surely as if they voted for Obama

*snort*

Unlike McCain, I'm not the one trumpeting bipartisanship and bending over for the Democrats.

So, please tell us exactly how voting for McCain—someone who will willingly and gleefully assist left-wing Democrats in their treason against these United States—serves to stop "the final Marxist takeover."

and frankly, their tactics at FR appear to indicate they will do that, vote for Obama, to make good on their 'retribution for Americans, for not being pure enough to suit them.'

I have publicly said that I will not vote for Obama.

Furthermore, my absentee ballot had "McCain/Palin" bubbled in, but you obviously didn't notice that. I was planning to mail it in on the same day as the bailout vote; McCain's flagrant lunacy on live TV that night stopped me.

His subsequent praise for Al Gore, his return to harping about amnesty for "God's children" (the illegals), and his continued insistence on implementing carbon taxes...sunk whatever possibility remained of my casting that ballot, as-is.

The ballot will be spoiled, per Virginia election rules, and I will revote in person.

Don't be surprised when, after the election, McCain reverts to being McCain and sides with Obama et al. to screw you and the rest of us in the name of "bipartisan reform."

the extreme scare tactics are getting old.

Obama started out being mentored by an old line Stalinist Communist. Went to school and was mentored by Alinsky style radicals. Went to Chicago and hung around with a terrorist who wanted to kill Americans by the millions, and assisted him in radicalizing children. He joined the 'Church' of a radical preacher who rants 'God DA-M America!', and a rascist priest and Louis Farrakhan. He has been a part of a rascist, murderous political subculture. His main supporters are the far radical left in this country. When anyone questions him he sets Nazi style goon squads against them

Just why wouldn't he put us in concentration camps?
