I wouldn’t have such a difficult time voting for someone like J.C. Watts.

I would LOVE the opportunity to vote for J.C. Watts, although I heard he's turned a bit left on us. I hope it's not true. I could vote for Ken Blackwell or Michael Steele, or a couple of my personal heroes, Dr. Thomas Sowell or Dr. Walter Williams.

Hadn’t heard that Watts turned a bit left; if so that’s a shame.

But yes, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Michael Steele...all good men.

In the end, I can see this going a few ways:
1. Leftists interpreting Powell’s “defection” as another indictment of the Bush administration — therefore a positive endorsement.
2. Leftists remembering Powell and the WMD speech, forever linking him to it and never respecting him for it — therefore a negative endorsement.
3. People interpreting this as a black voting for a black, therefore a negative endorsement.
4. Nobody really cares, therefore no impact.
