LAS VEGAS – A 6-year-old boy kidnapped from a Las Vegas home by alleged drug dealers posing as policemen has been found alive in a neighborhood northeast of the Las Vegas Strip, police said early Sunday.
The child was "in extremely good condition" and had been taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for examination, Las Vegas police Capt. Vincent Cannito said at a news conference.
"He is safe and in our custody," Cannito said. "It's a blessing this child has been found."
Cole Puffinburger was recovered at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday after a caller informed detectives about a child walking alone on a street in a middle-class neighborhood of tidy, modest-sized homes about 5 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, Las Vegas police Officer Jay Rivera said.

That could mean anything. Who found him? Is it not possible the caller on a cell phone found him alone on the street, and stayed with him until the police responded?

The AP keeps changing, BTW. Still, it seems that somebody called police, police came out and found the boy alone. One story says he was found alone at a bus stop in downtown Las Vegas. The other says he was found alone in front of a church.
Authorities investigating the abduction of a 6-year-old boy from his Las Vegas home focused Saturday on three people, including a Mexican citizen and the youngster’s grandfather, who they said may have stolen millions of dollars from drug dealers.
The Mexican man, identified as Jesus Gastelum, is in his mid-30s and believed to be in Las Vegas or Southern California, police said at a news conference. The other “person of interest” was not identified.
Police believe methamphetamine was involved, Johnson said.
“Money is a huge factor, obviously. Drugs are a huge factor,” Johnson said. “The only innocent person involved in this entire operation is the boy.”
Cole was found at a bus stop at Oakey and 17th Street. Police received a report of a small boy walking down the sidewalk who fit Cole's description.
Again, it does not say exactly who found him. Was it the caller? For all we know the bad guys could have been the ones that called, to make sure the boy was located after being spooked.
A caller could have easily said, "Hey I found this little kid walking alone out here, could you please respond".
Still, it seems that somebody called police, police came out and found the boy alone. One story says he was found alone at a bus stop in downtown Las Vegas.
It seems to say that, but in reality, it does not.
No doubt, eventually it might be revealed what the exact circumstances were in finding him. All we know for sure, is someone called, and the kid was picked up. A good thing for sure.
Personally, I never thought they'd find this kid alive considering he players involved.

The reporterette says police received a report of a boy matching Cole’s description walking down the street, police responded, and they found Cole sitting at the bus stop “waiting to be rescued”.
Other reports say he was found alone.
Conclude what you want, but it seems obvious that whoever placed the call to police was not waiting at the bus stop with him.
Your comment that it could have been one of the kidnappers who called makes the most sense to me.

The bad guys could have told the family, "We'll take the boy, hold him until we get the cash...If ya call the cops, we kill the boy....
When the kids face was plastered all over the world, huge manhunt etc...They spooked. Wouldn't be the first time kidnappers revealed where the victim was after being spooked.
In addition, you initially stated:

Now its a bus station...Furthermore it could have been a mobile cell caller who stayed watching the boy until the police responded...Or the bad guys called..
Who knows...And this was my point...
Many times during an investigation LEOs will decline to reveal details, as the caller could have possibly observed the bad guys, "dumping" the kid and the LEOs might want to protect the ID of the witness/caller who might have given them valuable vehicle ID etc...
What we read in these articles generally lacks all pertinent details.

A man convicted of causing a crash on Pacific Coast Highway that killed the director of "A Christmas Story'' and his son is scheduled to be sentenced today.
Hector Manuel Velazquez-Nava faces a six-year state prison term.
Velazquez-Nava pleaded no contest to two counts of manslaughter in August in the deaths of Robert Clark and his son, Ariel Hanrath-Clark.
Authorities said Velazquez-Nava, an illegal immigrant, had a blood-alcohol content of .24 -- three times the legal limit.
