Some GOP insiders say McCain has botched campaign to win Florida
Orlando Sentinel ^ | October 19, 2008 | Jim Stratton

Abstract: There is a growing discontent by Republicans with John McCain’s presidential campaign. Nowhere is that more evident than Florida, a state McCain must carry to win the White House. Troubled by sliding poll numbers, GOP loyalists here wonder whether the national campaign has taken the state for granted. "My question would be, 'What campaign?' I just don't see one," said Bill Negron, an Orlando member of McCain's regional Hispanic steering committee. "To me, it looks like people are working hard to ensure that McCain doesn't get elected."

One GOP strategists who has advised the McCain organization called it the "most poorly run presidential campaign of the last 25 years. It's truly Dukakis-like," referring to the hapless 1988 campaign of Democrat Michael Dukakis. "They have absolutely no strategy for winning," said the veteran operative, who did not want to be identified criticizing a candidate he supports. "I see . . . no rhyme or reason to this campaign or its scheduling or its planning."

McCain campaign officials would not discuss concerns raised by Florida Republicans. In a statement, spokesman Mario Diaz said, "We're focused on the issues between the two candidates, as are grass-roots supporters across Florida and nationally." But Saturday, perhaps to ease concerns the campaign hasn't been doing enough, the campaign sent an e-mail listing some 15 Florida rallies and other events taking place between Friday and Monday. Most featured Sen. Joe Lieberman, Sen. Mel Martinez and McCain's daughter Meghan.

10.19.08: Monday, October 20 is the first day of Early Voting in Florida. Republican Party of Florida rallies are being held tomorrow in Sarasota, West Palm Beach and Melbourne. Democrat Florida rally cities starting tomorrow through Wednesday with Barack, Michelle and Hillary, individual rallies and together = Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Orlando, Pensacola, Jacksonville, and Gainesville.

10.18.08: Fred “The Man” Thompson’s comments from his RPOF rally speech yesterday in Orlando:

“A Barack Obama presidency would change the face of this country with higher taxes and liberal judicial picks. There will be no stop-gap. Any amount of spending they want, any amount of taxes they want to pass. Do you really think if the Democrats have the ability and power in Washington they’re going to only raise taxes on 5 percent of the American people?”

Fred reminded the audience of McCain’s “comeback” victory in the State’s presidential primary. “Last time I was in this building for a presidential debate, John McCain was running fourth of fifth”. “We’ve underestimated him before, but we’re not going to underestimate on election night, I’ll tell you that.”

“I’ve been looking at the poll numbers. I’ve noticed our friends on the other side have already rented the big suites with the caviar for election night. Folks, don’t underestimate John McCain.”

10.18.08: Florida Senator Compares Obama Economics To Communism At Rally
— Florida Sen. Mel Martinez compared Sen. Barack Obama’s economic policies to those of Communist Cuba’s Saturday during an Orlando rally for Sen. John McCain, hosted by big name Florida Republicans. “Where I come from, where I was raised, they tried wealth redistribution,” Martinez said. “We don’t need that here, that’s called Socialism, Communism, not Americanism.”

10.17.08: McCain has spent $5 million on television ads in Florida, Democrat Barack Obama has more than quadrupled that: spending $21 million in the state, according to Campaign Media Analysis Group.

Downticket candidates need help. Wright has to come back.

James Cone and Black Liberation Theology, Obama's religion, needs to be exposed, proving that Obama lied about Wright.

See Feddoso on James Cone YouTube

Expose the lie and the Obama Brand breaks down. The 'Uniter' is really a fraud. People will be repulsed by the truth. This is the Democrat's Foley scandal, and they are all complicit by not only covering it up but by also supporting him.

“Another MSM hit piece in a key battleground County – FlA “

While that may be true, I still question whether McCain wants to win. He’s gotten somewhat better but he’s still so wishy washy that it’s hard to figure out how this campaign is being run.

McCain has not botched anything....he is running a fine campaign. He is coming from behind...a hateful media has written NO good pieces or investigate AYERS like Joe the Plumber...he has lot against him...but his message is resonating.

Even the MSM can’t get the rap for everything. There is a grain of truth in this article. Hopefully Cardenas is right, but turnout may not be in our favor this time. Too many gullible idiots who usually don’t vote and dead people who do.

I really believe this was because Dems crossed over to make sure the GOP got stuck with McCain! Rush didn’t invent operation chaos! The Dems have done this for years!

FlA Cross-Post

SurveyUSA - Florida (10/17/08)
McCain 49%
Obama 47%

Interesting ......

Per SurveyUSA latest poll, “in 4 SurveyUSA tracking polls going back to August, Obama has never led in Florida. 14 separate research firms are polling in Florida. The last 10 surveys released by other pollsters all show Barack Obama ahead by 1 to 8 percentage points.” - FLA

Thank you Blue Turtle. I wouldn’t believe anything anybody says in a freaking newspaper these days. NEWSPAPER. Get it folks? A DYING NEWSPAPER INDUSTRY. And we’re gonna get worked up over an ANONYMOUS Republican? Guess what? I DON’T BELIEVE IT. Florida going for Mac. People start believing shit about him, when, for crying out loud, he was left for DEAD not so many months back. Bush carried Florida by almost A HALF A MILLION VOTES in 2004. OK, where did all those voters go, hmmmm? Hiding under their beds? Switched to the dark side? Don’t think so.

PLEASE PEOPLE: DON’T DRINK THE KOOLAID.

I can attest that at least in central FL, McCain is being outspent at least 20 or 30 to one. In fact until the last few days McCain hasn't seem to spend anything here so it's been 100 to 0. Maybe they know something but OTO he doesn't nearly have the resources that Obama has either.

He HAS run the most inept campaign I’ve ever seen.

I do hope, though, that when he wins, he recognizes that the conservatives that “dragged him over the finish line” (ala Rush) are the ones that got him elected, and treat us accordingly.

These people make me SICK.
