'Joe the Plumber' in media cross hairs (Obama Spreading the Wealth Around)
Chicago Tribune ^ | 101808 | John Kass

Posted on 10/18/2008 8:00:46 PM PDT by Fred

The eyes of Joe the Plumber stare sightlessly from the media pike that his head has been impaled upon. A few crows fly over. As crows are curious, they become interested in the offering below. They lock their wings, caw and begin their swoop.

Poor Joe. "I'm kind of like Britney Spears having a headache. Everybody wants to know about it," joked Joe Wurzelbacher of Ohio, the celebrated Joe the Plumber of this presidential election.

The quote proves Joe Wurzelbacher is alive, and that it's not Joe's real flesh-and-blood head up there on the media's mocking pike. It's just his figurative head, not the head of a man, but of an American reduced to symbolism for political purposes. It's much easier to mount a bloodless two-dimensional cartoon head on a sharp point.

Yet even symbols have feelings, and it sure must have hurt. So, how did Joe lose his head?

It's simple. He made three big mistakes. Mistake No. 1 was that Joe got involved in presidential politics without a license. You must have a license to do anything in this country these days. Joe didn't know any better.

But it was mistake No. 2 that really got him. Wurzelbacher got Obama to tell him about his tax policy. The Democratic senator from Illinois confessed that if elected president, he'd institute a tax plan to "spread the wealth around."

Those four words just about finished Joe. Joe said he was a plumber and would like to buy a plumbing business but was worried about Obama's planned tax increases on small business owners earning more than $250,000.

"Do you believe in the American dream?" Joe asked Obama. "I'm being taxed more and more for fulfilling the American dream."

ESPN pre-game discussion of the Michigan-Penn State game: Joe Paterno was referred to as the second-most famous Joe in America (at least this week!).

What they are doing to “Joe” is just plain WRONG -— and I’ve had just about enough of it!!!

I sent the following complaint to the FCC tonight:

I request that an antitrust/monopoly investigation be filed immediately against ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, and MSNBC due to the obvious and deplorable bias shown on major TV media “news” in their coordinated effort to skew reporting to obviously favor the Democrat Presidential candidate. Even the most unsophisticated consumer is aware of the blatant media bias this election cycle, and it has been well documented by various watchdog sources. These TV “news” firms, who have a dominant market share and abuse that position to threaten the “marketplace of ideas”, should be held to a higher standard for fair, accurate, and unbiased reporting of NEWS, as opposed to appropriately identified OPINION. Media fail to report and intentionally obfuscate facts about the Democrat candidate, while scrutinizing every aspect and reporting every unfounded rumor pertaining to the Republican, the VP candidate, and their families; plus the media inquisition of a man who only asked a question. Start/Investigate now!

You can file your own complaint at:
http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

If we can make enough noise they will have to hear us!!!

I don't want this guy to be an example of what happens when you cross the party. The workover he is getting is what one would expect from Brezhnev, not from a United States presidential candidate. Obama's own buffoonery is the issue here, the little glance at the truth we only get when he's off cue. His amazing conceit that everyone thinks the way he does gets him in trouble every time. He is beclowned with his socialism and needs a real live strawman. How can any candidate get away with this? How can the 'press' keep any semblance of credibility? How can a human call himself a democrat and not bow his head in shame?

They say that BO attracted a crowd of 100,000 in St. Louis today. I'll wager he didn't talk about collectivism, or income redistribution, or compulsory programs at all. If his fans were really leftist enough to rationally be fans, I'd think they would want to hear some of that.

I passed that point so long ago I can't remember it! I refuse to watch MSNBC or have it on in my home, period. I'm almost as bad with CNN except for Glenn Beck (thank you Fox for giving him a show).

And let's not even get into the 'newspapers' or 'news' magazines. I would rather paint my house and clean my toilets.

It’s interesting how the Democrats claim to support the working class people. They signed a bill to bail out people who took out mortgages they had no way of paying back. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Yet a guy named Joe falls behind $1200.00 for whatever reason, and has his life turned upside down by the media and the Democrats.(I know....it’s redundant). All because he dared to question the One.
They’re taking out their anger on Joe,but what they’re really angry at is Obama.....for giving an honest answer.

I consider team obama’s action toward Joe the Plumber typical Chicago machine politics at a national level.
