Examples of the fruits of socialism.
Predictable. However, it’s nothing to do with socialism, the NHS has existed since 1948 and from then until about the 1980s, it was the envy of the world.
Both my mother and grandmother worked as nurses within the NHS before it became the way it is today. Back in their day, nursing was almost military-like in it’s discipline. Learning was on the job, and matrons ruled the ward like Sergeant-Majors making sure that standards of cleanliness and practice were extremely high. IMHO, the rot set in when they got rid of Matrons and started to academicise nursing more by making it into a degree-style course with a bit of work experience on the way.
I don’t want to take the military analogy too far, but when you think what the state the army would be in if it ‘trained’ it’s soldiers by putting them on a degree course and get rid of NCOs, you might start appreciating why standards of nursing have declined.
