Sure. Capone was a sleazy criminal. He is dead. That you think a ‘regulated’ black market can exist says something.
No one is being kidnapped over the regulated commodities alcohol and tobacco. If mj were regulated along those lines, do you think there would be a black market generating huge profits for drug gangs?
Isn't the alcohol trade a 'regulated black market'?

Good zinger, there! You made the “Clear Case”...
Like ‘voluntary taxation’, a ‘regulated black market’ is an oxymoron. Alcohol is a regulated market in a legal good. Just as a pharmacy can legally, under regulation, sell drugs that can be illegal when sold in the ‘black market’.
I’ve had the interesting experience of having this discussion with many levels of heavy-duty drug criminals over the years, and they laugh out loud to think people believe that legalizing anything will stop them from making money. Will it ever be legal for minors? Well, that market will continue. Will all forms of drugs be legalized? Don’t think so, we’ll continue to sell the ones that aren’t.
These are not people who will suddenly go apply for legitimate work, that’s a fantasy. It will simply be easier for people who use drugs to do so without pesky laws to slow them down.
Seriously, if you’re going to steal money from Mexican drug gangs, you better be willing to brutally kill a whole lot of people. Otherwise you’re just suicidal. That about sums up your options.
Yes, and I’m still mad about it.
“There’s something about addictive recreational drugs which makes people do unpleasant things. Maybe that’s why the laws were passed. “
The laws help fuel the violence. Just like prohibition laws helped power violent gangs then.
“Go look. Do your own research. If you want to live in a decadent sewer, move to Holland. If you want to make the US into a decadent sewer, well know that I will fight on the other side.”
You are full of crap. I bet you’ve never even been to the Netherlands. I’ve been there three times. It’s a beautiful country. The crime rate is pretty low there. Amsterdam has its rough spots, especially around Central Station, but there are some parts of some major cities in the U.S. that are much worse. They haven’t legalized drugs either. Marijuana is virtually legal but they haven’t legalized the hard stuff. Their drug laws are lax and they treat drug abuse more as a health problem than a crime, but except for marijuana they have not legalized drugs, and marijuana isn’t technically legal there although they allow people to possess it and for it to be sold from shops with permits. Per capita drug use rates there are lower than here. According to government surveys only around 20% of the Dutch have even tried marijuana compared to more than 40% in the U.S. You don’t know what you are talking about.
You are full of crap.Yep. And you want legal drugs. Live with it.
About twelve years ago, a SW Florida family of five was shot deadand their dog! (Was it Lee County?)
Police decided it was a drug hit from Miamiat the right addressbut the wrong county!
This is just the tip of the iceberg of the crime wave that this third world invasion is bringing. Kidnapping is a cottage industry south of the border.
Hey, you brought it up.
Legalize recreational drugs and organized crime loses its major source of funding.
I was simply responding to your post.
Black Market:
1.the illicit buying and selling of goods in violation of legal price controls, rationing, etc.
Bingo. Of course, we are not going to convince those who want them legalized.

Exactly. The thinking is akin to lowering the age of consent to 12 and, wow, child molestation and statuatory rape stats plummet. Problems solved!
Many people who want to practice a certain behavior will flock to areas where they don’t get hassled. Even liberal Santa Monica thought it was so progressive to welcome the homeless, which attracted pan handlers and what used to be called vagrants until it became a haven for folks on the mooch. At some point, everyone else in the area ends up paying the price for those who partake.
