Hank Williams JR- "The McCain-Palin Tradition"
(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
Hank Williams Jr. is no Hank Williams.
Then again, what do I know? I hate most country music.
This is freaky.
That song was going through my head right when I noticed this thread.
TOO,TOO GOOD! Thank you!
But isn’t country music the official music of the Republican Party?
“But isnt country music the official music of the Republican Party?”
Can’t we do better? How about Bach? Or if you absolutely must have American music, I guess jazz, but not that bee-bop crap.
No, no, wait, I’ve got it, the official music of the Republican party should be fifes and drums. Nothing else.
Maybe a banjo or two.
Our music should be good American rock music. Also any of the great Motown and Stax R&B music, which is thoroughly appealing and thoroughly American. Jazz would also be good. Maybe not bebop but that’s only because it’s not as easily grokked as other forms.
Country should be at the bottom of the list, down near rap.
There is no way on earth that Hank Williams Jr. can really be the son of Hank Williams.
Whoops! Hank just about sang “Hank why do you drink?” about half way through.
Country fans love Hank... you can still by streisand and dixie sluts music if you wish.

One, two, three, four.
Can’t you see that ol’ weepin’ willow tree?
Just enough shade for my ice-cold Bud an’ me.
I just sit here where the breeze is soft,
An’ I play the tapes with the letters horn off:
There ain’t no better way to end a long hard week,
Than some Hank wailin’ from my pick-up truck.
Pumpin’ like my blue-collar redneck blood.
Give me some Hagg, give me the possible,
With screamin’ guitars on top,
‘Cause country, I said, country is my rock.
Everybody needs somethin’ to keep them strong.
Yeah, something they can feel down in their bones.
For me there ain’t no substitute,
For three simple chords an’ the God’s honest truth,
An’ a steel guitar from the heart to take me home.
Like some Hank wailin’ from my pick-up truck.
Pumpin’ like my blue-collar redneck blood.
Give me some Hagg, give me the possible,
With screamin; guitars on top,
‘Cause country, I said, country is my rock,
Yes, it is.
Give me some Hagg, give me the possible,
With screamin; guitars on top,
‘Cause country, I said, country is my rock.
‘Yeah, country, I said, country is my rock,
Yes, it is.

Hank and Country Music is what this country is all about. He rocks!!

Cut him some slack. He's been carrying on the Family Tradition for a long time. Consider what Hank Sr. might have looked and sounded like if he had lived past 30.
I don't blame you.
That stuff will make you ignorant and incestuous.
Friggin awesome!
haha this is great :) go Hank!
Love it! What a cute song! I for one love country music! My dad loved all the old country music singers (Hank Sr., Porter Wagoner, George Jones, etc.). From my observation, country musicians seem to really love and appreciate their fans, and their music comes from the heart. Don’t get me wrong, I am quite versatile when it comes to music. I love it all, except rap music. I even love 80’s rock/hair metal and classical music, Celtic music to even bluegrass. There’s room for every type of music in the Republican Party. Except for rap! LOL!
It’s kinda hard to top a founder of the genre and a legend at that, but Hank Jr. carries on a fine tradition and is great in his own right. To each their own, but I enjoy it along with other genres and am appreciative that they don’t seem to have to worry about a blacklist that permeates every other entertainment field because it is music from the heartland.
