OK they are doing it again now!

KCNA main website, top page. I just saw it at9:30 p.m. Japan/Korean time, which is 08:30 Eastern Time USA Sunday.

Go to the site and take a look at the text again.

It looks like the same encoded/Chinese character combination text.

Also, you have freepmail coming to you.

I can't connect to KCNA site from here. Based on your reports, we are left with some extreme scenarios.

(`1) the site was abandoned, and machine is doing it on its own repeatedly.

(2) it is indeed a coded message to transmit important information.

(3) Somebody repeatedly hacked into their computer. Was he able to hack into other NK computers?

(4) they are doing it for perverse humor to play with our mind: the most unlikely scenario

Yes, they are using a combination of Chinese, then character that appear to be Chinese that are not, and then symbols... on other websites, mostly blogs, etc. where this stuff shows in in Asia, I am seeing some correlation to South Indian script as well. Tiger just now has the four plausble scenarios outlined the best.

no doubt related to zainichi chosen jin in Japan. they are DPRK slanted/allied Koreans living in Japan, second, third and fourth generation, allied to Pyongyang and also probably part of Chongryon group here in Tokyo....or at least a sympathetic Japanese domain hoster.

re your conjectured possibility #1, KCNA have not updated the site since Friday, but often they are slow on weekends. North Korean TV is only streaming on the Japanese oriented DPRK slated website (I will not give it here) updated with Pyongyang TV videos back to Friday 17 Oct. Let us see what BIG MONDAY brings and if they update these things. Pyongyang Radio tonight was normal, with the usual news, they mentioned KJI in the present tense, and did they ever have vitriol toward S. Korea and President Lee Myung Bak.

So news has now reached UK.

Ever since Kim Jong-il was a no-show two times in a row(Sept. 9 and Oct. 10, important anniversaries for the regime,) media is gearing up and trying to sniff out any funny smell wafting out of Pyongyang.

We now have another news by Donga Ilbo, a major S. Korean daily, which says that N. Korean Foreign Minister packed a bunch of expensive Russia cavers, pickles, and other food stuffs to bring home. These are supposed to be Chia Head's favorite. He was returning from his official visit to Moscow. Apparently, the baggage is way over 20kg limit set by Aeroflot, actually 50kg. They refused to pay for surcharge for extra weight even after Russians "kindly" offered a discount from 15 Euros per kg to only 5 Euros. They insisted on bring entire package aboard for free.

These guys are such nasty house guests. It appears that Foreign Minister is trying to impress Kim Jong-il. That means he is still alive. However, there are others who like to have Chia's favorites. Or they are putting up a ruse to throw off dogged suspicion by outsiders on Kim's well-being.
