Obama and the media are being gamed. If Powell endorses anyone it will be his close friend John McCain to which he has contributed money this election cycle. Don't be surprised if he is stepping forward to give his friend a boost in the polls. Powell regardless of where we differ from him his not disloyal and understands more than most that race does not transcend common decency and values.

Our military troops will see Colin Powell as a traitor if he endorses Obama to become their under-qualified Commander-in-Chief. Colin Powell wants to send a message to the world though, so he could go for Obama. I would hope he would just decline to endorse either one. He will lose the respect of many if he chooses to publicly endorse Obama.

Probably one of the worst Cabinet appointees in history. Zero creditability.

If Powell endorses McCain, the MSM will check to see if he can do that without a valid plumbing license...

What are your thoughts on this?

You don’t really think he’d support McCain, do you?

This from the Guardian:

Powell's decision might be seen as being based on racial solidarity and that could alienate some white voters already reluctant to back Obama on grounds of race.

Rumor has it he is endorsing Obama. At best he may just keep quiet. I would love for him to extend the hand of friendship to McCain but I don’t see it.

I doubt Powell will endorse McCain. Powell cares too much of what the MSM thinks of him. I hope I am wrong.

If he’s going to endorse McCain, why in the world did he wait so long? He could have been out campaigning for him! Personally I don’t care one way or the other what he does. I think he was “disloyal” to President Bush.

Didn’t Powell bail on President Bush? I wouldn’t be surprised if Powell got off the fence and sat on Obama’s lap.

dont know whether he will endorse mccain or not. when asked a few months ago he said he is watching and hasnt decided he has given money to mccain but who knows what he will do. I am leary so many are going for obama simply because of his skin color and his gift of gab and not his record.

I’ve met General Powell in person. I thought he was a warm, sincere, down-to-earth kind of guy.

I would be extremely disappointed, and surprised, if he goes for Obama.

I’ll bet the average black voter doesn’t even know who Powell is, and/or doesn’t care who he endorses.

My fantasy is that Powell comes out for McCain, and cites Obama's support for communist thug Raila Odinga and interference in the election that lead to the bloodbath in Kenya that Odinga incited when he lost.

It would be nice if he also mentioned Ayer's 2006 speech in Caracas praising Hugo Chavez' Venezuela as a model of "education reform".

I am thinking he will probably split his endorsement.

Perhaps he will endorse McCain’s experience in a time where the US is at war and the threat of terrorism is still present.

Perhaps he will endorse Obama’s leadership in a time where the country needs to change direction and pass the torch to a new generation.

I suspect he will conclude by saying that the later need outweighs the former and will therefore cast his vote and therefore his support behind Obama.

I do hope he will endorse McCain against Obama but the conventional wisdom prevents me from expecting it. I feel myself involved more with how I will view Powell after his endorsement more than anything else. I have respected him since he came on to the world scene but I have always realized that he is a centrist at best. So here is hoping that he gives John the nod for his bipartisanship and ability to compromise.

I request that the misleading headline be corrected. No evidence is prevented supporting the claim that Powell will endorse McCain.

There is plenty of evidence pointing the other direction, although I doubt Powell will endorse Obama outright ... I don’t think its his style to leave everyone hanging in order to grab the spotlight on Sunday. He has too much class for that.

Haven’t read the whole thread- but has he also contributed to Obama’s campaign? Sometimes high profile people contribute to both.

Andrea Mitchell is convinced he’s endorsing Obama.

I’m no Powell fan, but he’ll earn my respect if he goes against the tide and makes a strong endorsement of McC/P.

Which the media will then ignore. Prominent black hero endorses McCain over The 0ne, yawn, who cares? Oh, but if he’d gone for 0.....
