The Barack backlash (America takes a second look, and backs away)
WORLD NET DAILY ^ | 10/17/08 | © 2008 Pat Buchanan

--SNIP--Obama knows Middle America harbors deep suspicions of him.....he has jettisoned position after position to make himself acceptable. His "flip-flops" testify most convincingly to the fact that Obama knows that where he comes from is far outside the American mainstream. For what are flip-flops other than concessions that a position is untenable and must be abandoned?

Thus, though he is the nominee of a party in thrall to the environmental movement, Obama has signaled conditional support for offshore drilling and pumping out of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

While holding to his pledge for a pullout of combat brigades from Iraq in 16 months, he has talked of "refining" his position and of a residual U.S. force to train the Iraqi army and deal with al-Qaida. On Afghanistan, he has called for 10,000 more troops and U.S. strikes in Pakistan to kill bin Laden, even without prior notice or the permission of the Pakistani government.

Since securing the nomination, Obama has adopted the Scalia position on the death penalty for child rape and the right to keep a handgun in the home. He voted to give the telecoms immunity from prosecution for colluding in Bush wiretaps.

This onetime sympathizer of the Palestinians now does a passable imitation of Ariel Sharon. No Democrat has ever come out of the far left of his party to win the presidency. McGovern, the furthest left, stayed true to his convictions and lost 49 states. Obama has chosen another course. Though he comes out of the McGovern-Jesse Jackson left, he has shed past positions like support for partial-birth abortion as fast as he has shed past associations, from William Ayers to ACORN, from the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to his fellow parishioners at Trinity United.

'Joe the Plumber' to Appear on Mike Huckabee's New FOX News Show

Samuel J. Wurzelbacher — better known to millions of Americans as "Joe the Plumber" — will appear in an exclusive prime-time interview with FOX News Channel's Mike Huckabee on Saturday night.

Wurzelbacher will be giving his first in-studio interview since he burst on the national political landscape after questioning Barack Obama's tax policies during a rally in Ohio, where Wurzelbacher works for a plumbing company. "Joe the Plumber" was subsequently the subject of intense discussion during the presidential debate on Wednesday night between Obama and John McCain.

Wurzelbacher is traveling to New York with his father and teen-aged son to appear on the program, which airs at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night and is rebroadcast and 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Just waisted a click on FR ... who the f*** cares what Pat Buchanan has to say about anything???

My sentiments exactly. I sure wish I could get that $25 back I donated to Buchanan's campaign in 1996.

Joe the Plumber has been seen on TV around the world! I saw snippets of him on Australian TV news in a dozen languages.

It was NOT a “rally”, but a neighborhood “walk-through”.

0bummer f-—ouled up and admitted his communist roots and goals.

Now the knives are out for the man who pulled the curtain back to reveal the charlatan for what he is.

Btw I read on another post that Joe the plumber brought up Barry’s lack of a birth certificate on a radio interview today.

After the media savagery inflicted on him, I suspect Joe has become a man with nothing to lose. If I remember correctly, such people can be very dangerous. In this case, dangerous to the Obamao.

What in the world were the Democrats thinking????

Remember who runs the DNC these days, no longer pragmatists like the Clintons' buddy McAuliffe but Howard Dean and friends.

That was unlike anything I'd ever seen, they really went after him. If he keeps his cool he could end up in Congress like Lou Barletta.

these are OUR people...the American people....we are going to WIN this election.....

I have to say that I am so PROUD of my fellow Americans who have supported Sarah and Mac and who have donated....maybe we are actually going to form a new movement....the American Peoples party....

I am looking forward....I see a win for McPalin, and a sigh of relief, not only for us, but for many hussein people, because deep down, many "regular" rats are scared of him...

I see a new American voice against corruption and dirty politics...

ITS ALL COMING OUR WAY....

EAGLES UP!

All things considered, I agree that he is going to SINK.
Lots of dems won’t vote for him once they get in the voting booth.

History certainly never repeats it’s self exactly, but there are some real parallels between now and the 1976 election.
-An out of nowhere, inexperienced Democratic candidate.
-An angry public voting against an unpopular big government Republican president that isn’t on the ballot.
-Years and years of inflammatory reporting against a Republican president by the MSM. (Sometimes I thing the real hatred of Bush from the left stems from them feeling threatened by his adoption of their big government style (kind of like Nixon).
- The Republican candidate was previously seen as an “extremely” bi-partisan fellow.
-Winding down, but largely unpopular wars.
-Enormous political involvement by radical academia.
- Explosive growth of government during the approximately 10 to 15 previous years.
-Creeping tax growth.

I’m still fighting for this one, but still if things don’t work out, there’s till tomorrow. Quoting Star Wars characters is a bit old, but still sometimes fitting. As Obi-Wan said, “if you strike me down, I’ll become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” (What a day, I’m talking about Carter, agreeing with Pat Buchanan and repeating cliché Star Wars lines.)

I plan to get out a magic marker and write, I’m Joe the Plumber on one of my T shirts today. Or maybe it should be, We’re all Joe the Plumber. Hmmm.
