take a look!
This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately on my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

MERCAT the lawyer. I entered law school at the age of 27, had a child nine months later, finished on time... worked briefly for legal aid and then the feds and then started my own practice. That was over 30 years ago. I recently cut my staff and now only employ one part time contract person who is also a stay at home mom of two and in a paralegal program. My son (the one I had in law school) also works part time for me occasionally. I have in the past been part of a three lawyer firm employing up to five people. I now do most of my own work and have learned to fax file and scan. I always have done my own documents since I type at 80 words a minute. So if Obama wins, I’ll continue to cut back on my practice and if I do cut my standard of living, my husband and I might be able to retire in 10 years. He’s 66, a full time landlord with residential rentals. That’s a huge LOL since the value of that portfolio has dropped and of course we can’t sell it because of the capital gains tax and the huge requirements re radon, mold, disclosures etc. and of course, I won’t even look at my IRAs. Anyway, I can’t really complain. No heavy lifting, pleasant working companions, oh, and yes, we still have mortgages but 15 year which will be paid off in 10. So unless O totally f*cks up we’re probably okay and be able to retire just before we die.

Obama frequently talks about helping people get higher education. I would like you to meet, Ashlee just graduated college. Ashlee didn't necessarily apply herself in high school, so she didn't qualify for scholarships, I'm a single mom working two jobs with 4 kids, so I was unable to provide the money for college, however Ashlee was able to go to college. She went to college on student loans. She has just recently finished college with a Bachelor of Science degree in health information management, upon finishing school, she took a job for 9.00 per hour, she has recently been given a substantial increase. Ashlee has 10,000 dollars in loans to pay back. The great thing here is that, she doesn't complain about her plight, she knows that with her education and hard work she will obtain the American dream, but not because someone gave it to her, yes she did get loans, but she's paying them back and at 23 she's on her way to a great future. Personal responsibility and accountable go a long way. I think she appreciates her accomplishments more because she worked for them herself.
