There are published writers, like, say, Tom Clancy, whose writing skill are on the side of atrocious. As an employer of grammar correcting English grads Danielle Steel said to a meeting of San Franciso writers before storming out the door, "I've sold more books than all of you will sell in your lifetimes!"
(Sorry about my grammar.)
Why are you apologizing for your grammar? You didn't claim to have a million books under your "built", or brag about your l33t ski11z. We non-elite, unpublished folks with engineering skills instead of English skills are bound to make mistakes.
However, for Big Bad Super-Elite English Professors with all those books under their "builts", there is no excuse.
