Prosecutors in the home county of a Michigan woman who abandoned her 13-year-old son at a Nebraska hospital this week said Thursday they are seeking temporary custody of all the woman's children.
Prosecutor Deborah Carley said a hearing would be held Thursday afternoon in Oakland County juvenile court on her petition for temporary custody of the five children of Terri and Terrance Martin of Southfield.
Terri Martin made a roughly 12-hour drive to leave the 13-year-old at an Omaha hospital under Nebraska's unique safe haven law.
All states have laws designed to allow desperate new mothers to leave their newborns in safe hands, but Nebraska's law allows parents to abandon older children and even teenagers at hospitals. The boy was the 18th child and the second from out of state abandoned in Nebraska since the law took effect in July.
Carley called Martin's trip a "symptom" of wider neglect against the child and possibly his four siblings.
She declined to offer details of alleged neglect, but said it was "significant" and should have been dealt with by the Michigan Department of Human Services.

I don't understand??? Family is supposed to be forever...its not a car here...
Some people are just crazy. That’s all I can say without getting a time-out.
This is one of the last taboos..these horrible mixed culture adoptions that people don't like talking about. When he was 16 she asked the court to take him out of her family. (He was violent). They blamed her for not being a good parentand refused her request and repimanded her in front of the boy who mocks her about it to this day. She has two other children, biological, who are good kids.
Absolute heartbreaking story,.
I only wish my parents loved me enough to do this to my jerk brother.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.
Our pastors daughter and son in law decided to take in foster children. She wanted to take the kids that were the hardest to find homes for and give them a good home. They told her that teenage boys were the hardest to place so she took two 15 yr old boys. They caught her in the laundry room, roughed her up and stole the keys to her van and locked her in the laundry room. They stole her van and when the police caught up with them a few days later, they had trashed her van. She learned a lesson from that and its sad cause she was so good to those kids.
