Wow...why would he say that?
In true context Obama said something to the effect of:
[John McCain would have you believe that] a plumber is the guy he is fighting for.
So, that clever bit of editing makes it seem like he’s mocking the plumbing profession, when he’s really suggesting that McCain is not really interested in looking out for working-class plumbers. Context matters.
Now, the second part, where he says “how many plumbers you know who make 250k”, is the condescending tone of a collosal prick.
Because he's feeling more than a little giddy these days.
