Either, they aren’t sure how to react because it’s true (think john edwards and the enquirer)

Obamamessiahites are behind the “smear” and are baiting.

I see three posibilities:
A. The story (and maybe API) are phoney
B. The call made to API was a prank
C. The story is real
I give them the order of probability of B - high, A - medium, C - low.

I believe that Krikor has these recordings. API is a reputable agency with a long history ( The API site ranks a 4 out of 10 on the yahoo site rating board)

Ha! They are consulting with their lawyers before releasing tape? More like they are waiting for a good high offer. That would have to come before Nov. 4.
What's so damning anyway? Michelle is quoted as saying that he was born in Hawaii, so the basis of this whole brouhaha would seem to be undermined.

What does being “adopted” by a foreigner have to do with anything? If he was born in Hawaii he is still an American so I don’t understand.
What is more relevant is her practically admitting he is a Muslim.
It’s not just the citizenship issue in play. While that’s surely a serious and legitimate line of inquiry, Mrs. Obama made a lot of comments about how a bunch of “white racists” were behind these questions, etc.
The earlier “whitey” tape never materialized, so maybe she made us a new one. :-)
