The media guys crying about this....have no idea how the license business works...thats very obvious. Only the owners have to be a real licensed guy. If you figure the yearly license fee the state charges....you really don’t need the license unless you buy the business....then you face the Obama “solution”.

Exactly...the one who pulls the permits for the job needs to be licensed. Now if he were to do moonlighting and pull your own permits than you would need to be licensed. The only 2 states I know of where you can do business without a license is PA and WVA. Unless of course you want to do government work. Residential contractors in these states don’t need one. Now every state is different but the rules usually apply state to state when it comes to licensed contractors. Again, you pull the permits on the job you need a license.

There are tons of cases where a general contractor (who holds the license) will hire say their relatives or something to help out when needed. If every single person needed a license it would be chaos. I know in Ohio you need to have at least 5years of plumbing experience to even apply for a license.
