MELBOURNE: Men have invaded ladies' fashion domain a little further, for after 'man-bras' and 'manscara' the latest must have for men is "mantyhose."

"Mantyhose"or pantyhose for men have become a popular sheer garment from truck drivers to cowboys.

A self confessed male hosiery-wearer, Harisnya is so passionate about the issue he set up e-MANcipate, a website which he says aims to "accelerate the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item".

The website offers men a step-by-step guide on how to wear pantyhose without damaging it. Harisnya declares that the website, based in the United Kingdom, is "as serious as fashion can be". He is adamant that both males and females should be allowed to wear the sexy sheer garment.

Maybe in India, not here in the USA.

When I was a kid and played soccer, we wore pantyhose to keep our legs warm on really cold days.

I really hope no one has pictures. :)

Way back when I was still on AD lots of SF types had no problem wearing pantyhose during cold weather ops. There wasn’t anything effeminate attached to it. The pantyhose are warmer and less bulky than longjohns. Just made sense.

Yes, Mrs. Robinson was all about staying warm in her hose.

The article's out of Melbourne (Australia, presubably), and according to the article the "Mantyhose" website is based in the UK.

popular? yes. lots of men wear them, but entirely out of function. cowboys wear them so their legs don’t chafe from their pants rubbing against their legs constantly. hunters, campers, hikers, mountain climbers, etc wear them for warmth. skaters and bikers wear them for protection.

but none of them are for fashion.

Ditto. We wore 'em many a time on winter jumps and also applied a thin film of vaseline to our legs before putting them on when walking the swamps. Lightweight, much more effective than the standard issue cotton long johns and dried out much quicker too.

I find a nice set of long silk underwear works great for staying warm in really, really cold weather. I don’t think the pantyhose would work nearly as well, and they don’t really make them in my size, anyway.

This was valid back before UnderArmor was invented. Now, there’s no excuse. If you’re cold, if you chafe, buy some UnderArmor. Guys, get out of our pantyhose. I really don’t want to go into the bathroom and be confused about whose pantyhose is drying there. How can I respect you in the morning if you’re wearing my underthings? ;-)

What part of “back in the day” don’t you understand? (wish I would have invented UnderArmor though)

What next, an article about how great it is for men to wear high heels? IMO the guy is just a closet tranny trying to justify his fetish.

I don't see much difference between pantyhose and Under Armour Cold Weather leggings. Well, except Under Armour makes you look cool and wearing pantyhose is gay.
