“When clinton left office we had a budget surplus ... the national debt was approximately 5 trillion dollars.” Can someone explain how that is not only a gross democrat lie but even contradictory in the same breath?

<<“When clinton left office we had a budget surplus ... the national debt was approximately 5 trillion dollars.” Can someone explain how that is not only a gross democrat lie but even contradictory in the same breath?>>

The Truth:

1) The budget surplus was a forecast, it was never anything real. And, of course these never take into account economic problems that would cause the tax base the shrink over the period of the forecast, which was starting to happen in the 2000 election cycle. BTW if there was ever any hint at a possible surplus it was because of folks like Newt Gingrich. It certainly wasn’t because of libs who never met a government program they didn’t like.

2) We never really recovered from the last down turn. It only felt that way because the inflation from the housing market was creating distortions in real economic activity indicators. Massive alarms should have gone off when the Fed was unable to raise long-term interest rates. I suspect this might have been a real motivation for not wanting to realign the housing market with across the board inflation after it had been unhinged from it by what Fannie and Freddi were doing. In short, what looked like real econmic growth and a nice bright spot in the economy was actually quite fake.

3) We were attacked. We had to rebuild the military after years of neglect. We had to dramatically restructure law enforcement and intelligence agencies. We had to bailout airlines. We had to take over airport security.

4)We had to pay for Kartina and every other major hurricane that came though.

5) We had to rebuild reglatory agencies so the chinese counldn’t poison us or our kids.

6) We have to pay for prescription drugs and healthcare for everyone who can’t or won’t.

7) We keep dumping money into a failed education system, hoping the problems go away.

8) Outside of committing a felony, and some times not even then, no underperforming federal employee is ever fired, or laid off when they become irrelevent; and they keep hiring new people all the time.

And the list goes on... Gee, what do you think the Dims would have done with the surplus, if there ever was one, which there wasn’t.
