You took the words out of my mouth. McCain was easily the winner. The vein in Obama’s forehead looked like it was about to rupture. His goofy grin and snickering may have impressed the Fox people as cool, but he just looked like the guy in the back of the classroom acting the fool. Obama was on the defensive and seemed disconnected. Joe the Plumber ought to have a statue erected in his honor after McCain is sworn in. And what was up with Luntz? No one was leaning toward Obama when the imbecilic undecided walked in? What a crock. And Luntz looked insane when he started pointing at people and barking. Brit Hume looked embarrassed by the Luntz thing.

A common criticism of McCain seems to be that McCain raised issues but did not follow up to deliver the knock-out. How the heck does anyone expect him to do this in the format of that debate? He raised the issues like Ayers effectively.

I was stunned by the reaction. The only thing I can figure is that they had it in their minds that McCain has lost the election and had to do something extraordinary tonight. Merely winning was not enough for them. My won’t everyone be surprised when McCain wins, as he will.

You sir, are the reason Shakespeare may have overstated the case.

"Obama was on the defensive and seemed disconnected."

Yep!

At one point I got the impression that he was thinking to himself 'what the heck I'm I doing here anyway?'

Right!

Under the circumstances I think he used his time very well.
