About McCain: "He's got it right as far as I go."
Even so, Wurzelbacher declined to say who was getting his vote.
He said he was surprised that he was called "Joe the Plumber" repeatedly during the debate.
"It's pretty surreal, man, my name being mentioned in a presidential campaign."
McCain's reference to Ayers reprised campaign commercials he has run to try and raise doubts about Obama's fitness to serve.
Ayers, who was a member of the violent Weather Underground in the 1960s, hosted a meet-the-candidate event for Obama in an Illinois race many years later.
"The fact that this has become such an important part of your campaign, Sen. McCain, says more about your campaign than it says about me," Obama replied.
The two men debated at a round table they shared with Bob Schieffer of CBS, the moderator.

Oh, the way McCain skillfully handled the issue?
Forgetting to mention Obama’s “take from Joe to spread the wealth around” until his follow up?
What happened? I thought McCain was going to take the gloves off tonight.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed that Obambi gets his big s**t eating grin just before he tells a bald faced lie, which is to say that he had a big s**t eating grin frequently tonight!
Obama brought a knife to a gun fight and ended up full of holes! This was the most lopsided presidential debate in my lifetime. Senator McCain dominated Senator Obama on every issue and exposed Senator Obama for the liar and the fraud he is. The Democrats simply nominated a horribly unqualified candidate and their friends in Big Media will no longer be able to hide this from the American people.
He said spread the wealth around about ten times.
Breaking: Joe the Plumber signs reality TV show
“This was the most lopsided presidential debate in my lifetime. Senator McCain dominated Senator Obama on every issue”
Trying to look at it through the eyes of an undecided voter, I saw a McCain that was agitated, and rambling, whereas Obama looked cool and composed.
As much as I hate it, that’s how I saw it.
“The Democrats simply nominated a horribly unqualified candidate and their friends in Big Media will no longer be able to hide this from the American people.”
Brother, you’re preaching to the choir, but the MSM/Demonrats are at it right now via the Usual Suspects Channels.
The Fox talking heads are already dissing Mccain.
I guess he can’t get a break.
>> He said spread the wealth around about ten times.
Yeah, he DID finally figure it out.
Not when it counted, though.
Thought the gloves were coming off? Thought McCain was going to whip his butt?
yawn
Luntz stacks the deck again.....overwhelming obama winner of debate!
McCain beat the crap out of Bozo tonight, you must have watched a different debate then I did.
They’re ‘eating their own’ to prove how fair and balanced they are, which means they’re as biased as any of the other alphabet soup stations. Like politicians, their original appeal to conservatives was just to get them into power so that they could move to the left.
You call stuttering and stammering, failing to answer some questions and becoming very agitated being cool and composed? McCain looked Presidential and forceful no agitation involved. You can think what you like but McCain won this one going away.
>> McCain beat the crap out of Bozo tonight, you must have watched a different debate then I did.
No, FRiend, we watched the same debate. The difference: I watched it in real time, whereas you watched it through the fog of preconceived notions.
McCain failed.
