LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - In a predominantly black church in a city known for its past racial strife, Bishop Robert Smith is taking sides. His targets: Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and federal restrictions barring Smith's endorsement of Republican John McCain.
At the end of a recent sermon, Smith told about 50 worshippers at his Word of Outreach Christian Center: "I will be voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin."
Smith, who is black, said neighbors and friends have questioned why he isn't backing Obama, the first black presidential nominee from a major party.
"I just tell them it's not about race to me," said Smith, who was a delegate to the Republican National Convention. "It's about principle. I wouldn't care if it's my mother. If she isn't for life or for heterosexual relationships, I wouldn't vote for my momma."
Smith's sermon was aimed at fighting an Internal Revenue Service policy that prohibits charities and churches from involvement in political campaigns. Smith said he didn't tell parishioners anything they didn't already know from talking to him at dinners or in private.
"In my investigation of the candidates, neither one of them meets the Biblical standard 100 percent," Smith said during the Oct. 5 homily. "But only one of them has the basic understanding of when life begins. Only that one can be trusted to ensure that life does not end prematurely."

I’m gettin’ the looks again because of the McCain/Palin placard in my front yard. And my son told me today that the usual bully was going around in gym and asking the kids who their parents are voting for. If you didn’t say Obama, you got hit. I said to my son, “Do you see what type of people are supporting Obama? Let that be a lesson to you.”
If NoBama wins then be preapred for a lot more thuggery.
He is not going to win if McCain runs this ad. Frank Luntz said it is the best ad he tested. It is devastating to Obama.

What you told your son is so true. If this is the kind of behavior obama inspires in his supporters, he is not the kind of man we want as president.

McCain and the GOP should copy it - get Luntz to test it - hit up every wealthy Repub they can think of for more money and run it in all the states we need.

Tell your son to perform a preemptive strike and walk up and knock the crap out of that bully.Then go to the principle and tell them you will sue him personally for failing to remove the bully.

I met a black woman yesterday who was visiting from Chicago. She is a conservative and we ended up talking for over 4 hours! I told her about Free Republic and I hope she will come join us here.
She talked about how difficult it is to be black and be conservative (especially in Chicago). We can't even imagine how difficult it is for them.
God bless her, and God Bless this Pastor who puts principle ahead of race...just as God expects all of us to do!
BTW, why is it that black liberal churches, and black Reverends can endorse Democrats any time, any place, any where without any repercussions from the IRS ?

Forget policies for a minute and just look at the type of people that endorse a certain candidate.

That is very much a style in line with Obama.
He supported Raila Odinga, the butcher of Kenya.
When Odinga lost, he had people go around and set fire to houses and hack people up with machetes when they came running out.
I believe the Islamic bastard's thugs set fire to Christian churches making sure the occupants were kept inside until they died.
He's a close friend of Obama and actually his Muslim cousin.
They won’t listen; I talked with a 22 year old idealist today. She is a white girl from North Carolina and a rabid Obama supporter. There is no way to change her mind. She is well-educated, a teacher, and raised by white parents.
Somewhere along the way she took the left turn and unless a miracle takes place, she’ll stay to the left.
The rabid leftists won’t, but the apathetic, average voter, will sometimes listen to reason. I have also talked with people like you describe, and you are correct, Obama could have a dead body and a smoking gun in his hand and they still would have an excuse for him! (Of course we know Obama would never have a gun!)
One could also say that if Nobama loses then be prepared for a lot more thuggery (as in rioting).
