OMG what is wrong with Fox News. I feel like I have just got stabbed in the back
There was an article not too long ago about a secret meeting between Obama (Obama himself) and Roger Ailes where Obama went off on Ailes about Fox's "negative" coverage of him. Ailes promised to be fair, but not to be in the tank like the other networks.
I'd guess that there was a *bit* more to that conversation than just that, and Ailes came away with the understanding that if FOX didn't back off and Obama still won there would be retaliation. Like yanking White House press creds.
I also think that there's a HUGE echo chamber out there in the MSM, and the FOX folks operate in that chamber. It's hard for them to go against their "peers", because if their "peers" end up being right (and I think we're all in agreement that this election could go either way at this point), they're going to get laughed at and lose credibility. They can't do things like dis the credibility of their own paid experts. IOW, even if they think it (and the probably don't), they can't tell Luntz that they think his screening methodology let a bunch of Obama plants into his focus group. They have to run and talk about what the focus group said as if it represents reality.
There's almost three weeks left in this election, and there are reputable stories about $200 about to be spent by McCain and the NRA ... plus rumor-level stories about another $200 million in pro-GOP 527s and PACS. That amounts to unlimited funding and is enough to saturate the airwaves and overwhelm anything that Obama and the MSM can say. The ads need to start running NOW, by tomorrow evening at the latest. I was watching McCain's expression throughout the debate, and there were a number of times when he looked like he had a real sh*t-eating Cheshire Cat grin on his face when Obama was saying something. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the McCain Campaign has dozens of ads nearly ready to go, and were just waiting for Obama to give them the material to do a plug $ chug with. I read McCain's expressions as evidence that Obama was probably giving him that material.
Or at least I'd hope that's what it was. McCain certainly came out fighting tonight, foretelling an aggressive fight to win/fight to the finish campaign (vice a "lose with honor" campaign). So he's got the first half covered. The second half is going to be with the ads. We'll know about that in the next day or two.

This was of interest to me when you said: I’d guess that there was a *bit* more to that conversation than just that, and Ailes came away with the understanding that if FOX didn’t back off and Obama still won there would be retaliation. Like yanking White House press creds.
Now THIS gives credibility to the story going around yesterday about how Michelle Obama yelled at a black news organization — was that API (African Press International... or something like that), yelling at them for mistreating her black husband whom they should support since they were black and that if they were to treat him better, they would find themselves in a MUCH better position next year when her husband was president. (I suppose the opposite being referred to there.)
Oh, now THIS is all making a whole lot more sense!
