Billings, Mont. (AP) -- A judge has put gray wolves in the Northern Rockies back on the endangered species list about seven months after the federal government took them off.

The order from U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy in Missoula means the federal government must either drop or overhaul its proposal to strip wolves of federal protection — a process likely to drag on for at least several months.

‘Wolves back on the endangered species list’ would’ve been good news in the middle ages, today we seem to think having lots of wolves is a good idea.

Americans have zero idea how all these “do good” laws are being used against them.

That radio collar that turns into a beacon when it doesn’t move for 5 hours is a problem, someone just tossed one into a railroad car from an overpass and it made it all the way to Minneapolis before anyone figured out why the wolf was on the move so far.

Newbies are a nuisance also.

I don't understand why the idea of NO NUBIES is SO terrible. (former wolf/hybrid breeder)

Although if Pelosi was to go out there looking to feed the poor wolfie dears I wouldn’t object, and she can take Barbara Boxer with her too:)

As long as the beastie leaves me and mine alone, I don’t care where it is or what it does. Live and let live.

The second it becomes a threat to me, to my property or my livelihood, I’m putting a few .223 rounds through soft tissue so the bullets are less likely to be recovered for ballistics.

If these fool laws weren’t in place, I’d not have to consider shooting in such a way as to guarantee the beast is going to suffer before it dies. But when the law is as much of a threat as the animal, you have to do what you have to do...

How much of the taxpayer’s money is being spent for introducing ( and managing ) CANADIAN wolves to America ?

Family farmers and ranchers are having a hard enough time paying their bank loans, taxes...without also having to feed the wolves their livestock.

I had a dog who was a wolf/shepherd cross, best dog I ever had, smartest too.

Big difference between one who recognizes me as the alpha male and a pack who do not.

My concern is over the wild ones spreading far and wide before the Fish and Game folks realize it or will admit it.

We have cougar within a mile of town, making occasional forays into the fringes, here in North Dakota now, and five years ago accounts of cougar in the badlands were dismissed as mistaken, or anecdotal evidence--that is until someone showed up with a dead one.

Any animal capable of working in groups to take down elk can sure as heck tear the crap out of domesticated critters in a fenced enclosure, and the inability to stop that because a predator's "endangered" status is exaggerated does a disservice to us all.

I'm not for wiping them out, but if you want them wild, in the wild, then let people deter them from hunting where it isn't wild.

There are plenty of wilderness areas and national parks where they can do just fine, without terrorizing the back pasture.

I'm not sure the buzzards would consider dining on that pair.

I think that they have moved across the country. My husband saw a wolf the other day in S.W. Virginia where they have never been seen as far as anyone around here can remember. They’ve been sighted across the line in Tennessee too.
