Is it a lie? I can’t find the post that was here earlier, but here’s a politico story on it:

I’m not suggesting it isn’t a lie, I’m actually asking.

It does kind of sound like something McCain would do...

The beleaguered Democratic-leaning community group Acorn sends over this photograph: John McCain, in March of 2006, sitting beside Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek at an event Acorn co-sponsored in Florida.

The immigration event, which other photos show was packed with red-shirted Acorn member, was co-sponsored by the local Catholic Archdiocese, the SEIU, and other groups.

McCain, still spiting much of his party on immigration at the time, was the headliner.

Bertha Lewis, Acorn's chief organizer, said in a statement that came with the photo, “It has deeply saddened us to see Senator McCain abandon his historic support for ACORN and our efforts to support the goals of low-income Americans."

”We are sure that the extremists he is trying to get into a froth will be even more excited to learn that John McCain stood shoulder to shoulder with ACORN, at an ACORN co-sponsored event, to promote immigration reform," she said.

This doesn't wash. Just how "shoulder to shoulder" is McCain with ACORN? I guarantee it goes no deeper than the type of activity mentioned here. So does this woman also want to implicate the "local Catholic Archdiocese, the SEIU, and other groups" that also co-sponsored the event?

On the other hand, obama's ties to ACORN clearly go beyond appearing at a meeting that was co-sponsored by ACORN. It has ties directly to the experience he likes to tout - that of a "community organizer" - and he was a darned good one at that!

Another thing, this lady has an obvious agenda that literally drips in her thinly-veiled threats to tie John McCain with the organization.

What she's obviously trying to bring up here is Mac's efforts with immigration because she knows it riles the base, aka "frothing extremists." How bipartisan of her to try this.

The thing is, the base is well aware of his efforts and were disgusted with him over it, but there are more pressing issues at hand, and everyone is also aware of those.
