When I explain this situation to Japanese, that any foreigner could waltz into the USA, illegal in the first place, and then get a loan on little documentation, then flip up properties until the crash, absconding and just leaving the keys behind, they think AMERICA HAS GONE MAD.

HOW COULD THE BANKS LOAN TO SUCH PEOPLE is what I hear Japanese after Japanese say. (Of course, their banks loaned to idiots in the 1990s, so maybe they have some experience in this foolishness first hand). At any rate, most are incredulous to grant this to foreigners illegally there.
