yes, they want socialism, but most won't admit that that's what they're supporting. It's maddening.

I made the point in another post yesterday, that those who "want socialism," think it'll be just the same as it is today. Except the government will provide health care, insurance, retirement, education, drugs--anything the good citizen needs or wants. The people do not see it as an affront on freedom, an intrusion on one's privacy, or a disincentive to be productive. They also don't see the utter lack of choice, either from bureaucracy or rationing, socialism will bring.

What will happen is this socialism crap will be tried, will fail, then be completely broke and we’ll go back to the pre-FDR era of America...people taking care of themselves. But this won’t work because there are too many people who can’t take care of themselves. I think Gen. Sherman wrote about this in a letter to his brother.

I think about that as I drive through miles and miles of urbanization in Chicago filled with 'rats.

What are they going to do? What do they do now? The gov't can't tax what isn't there. When GNP/person falls rapidly, what is their plan?
