Worst Case Scenario (bad, bad, bad)
weekly standard ^ | 10/14/08 | Barnes

Worst Case Scenario What an Obama administration and a heavily Democratic Congress would accomplish. John McCain trails Barack Obama and shows no signs, at the moment anyway, of propelling himself into the lead. Democrats lead in eight Senate seats currently held by Republicans and are close in three others. In the House, Republicans once thought they'd lose only 5 to 10 seats. Now things look worse.

Thanks particularly to the month-long financial crisis, Republicans are in extremely poor shape with the election three weeks away. This means the worst case scenario is now a distinct possibility: a Democrat in the White House, a Democratic Senate with a filibuster-proof majority, and a Democratic House with a bolstered majority.

If this scenario unfolds, Washington would become a solidly liberal town again for the first time in decades. And the prospects of passing the liberal agenda--nearly all of it--would be bright. Enacting major parts of it would be even brighter. You can forget about bipartisanship.

Start with "card check." It would permit organized labor to unionize the private sector without winning a certification election by secret ballot. It's easy to get workers to sign cards saying they want a union, but it's hard to get them to vote that way when labor organizers aren't hounding them. Card check is labor's last hope for more dues-paying union members.

Unions simply aren't popular and neither is card check. But it passed the House last year, only to be blocked in the Senate by a Republican filibuster. In 2009, with Washington controlled by Democrats, it would sail through Congress and President Obama would

The first thing they will go after is the Fairness Doctrine because it's the easiest way to quite the dissenters. Combine that with a main stream media that is in the bag. And combine that with being able to call any challengers racist or Uncle Toms.

They will be unstoppable.

Legal is a gray area in this case. But I get your drift. One thing that the drug world has produced is good money laundering techniques.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard. - H. L. Mencken

I love that quote, like the deToquville "People get the government they deserve". We can bemoan that a naked socialist is running competitive this election but the fact is the populace and the culture is becoming less and less Godly and more covetess and hateful. It's not that conservative principals are foreign to people, it's that most people want to believe with all their heart that there is free money at the end of every campaign promise.

People don't love Obama, they love that they can project all their envy, hate and greed upon a blank canvas in square toed shoes and tight slacks. People on both ends of the economic spectrum want Obama the Yankee Doddle Socialist, the lower parasite class cause he promises them more free stuff and the super rich Upper West Side class , because Obama is cementing the new aristocracy, where power and privilege are bestowed upon a few with deep pockets and bleeding hearts. You can sense the frustration here on FR. People frustrated that McCain is not articulating conservative principals. Do most people even want to hear a message of self reliance, free markets and personal responsibility? We live in a culture now where nothing is your fault and the self is what is important. Comfort, leisure and life free of any worry is what Obama promises and it;s a very seductive message. We know it's a false gospel and when most of the country descends into a Detroit like malaise of 15% unemployment, stagflation and negative growth and when the Treasury is raided to the breaking point the liberals will just claim it;s that they didn't enough drill holes in the bottom of the sinking boat. Depressed yet?

So, anyone have suggestions on how we protect ourselves, our wealth, and our families...

1. Use cash transactions wherever possible.
2. See: US Constitution, Bill of Rights; 2nd Amendment.

This chart of when Tax Freedom Day has occurred since 1982 gives you a pretty good idea of what administrations since Reagan have been looking out for our best interests. How many days out of the year do you want to work for Obama and his ilk.

Legal is a gray area in this case.

??

I suggest you consult with a tax attorney versed in the field of international taxation. Suprisingly, I'd argue it's the most black & white portion of our Tax Code.

The polls are fixed

The whole reason for the ACORN voter registartion swamp. ACORN knows how the polls are kept "fair" by sampling the equiv. number of type of registered voters. If there is a quick 30,000 new Democrats registered, all the pollsters will ask that higher percentage of that party, who they will vote for.

It's all about Psy-OPS and creating a perception of a ground-swell of support for Obama-Biden. ACORN knows full well those "Mickey-Mouse" and "Jive Turkey" "voters" would never get to put in a vote.

No thanks to you Fred. Your having to put on a bib when you speak about the Messiah says it all.

At least if it really is a worst-case, then there’s no where to go but up.

Yes, but it can be down for a long, long time. I imagine the surviving citizens of Rome saying the same thing after their government collapsed. Look what followed, a millennium of darkness.

I just can't abide the thought of the Obamunist standing up there on the steps of the Capitol swearing to "protect and defend the Constitution" when we know all he has done in his life and all he believes in will do nothing but undermine it. The though of how military personnel having to salute that piece of excrement is enough to make me puke. Do we really want to hand off a ruined country marked by tyranny and utter dependence on government to our children?

Even if McCain wins if the boobs split the tickets and give the democrats a large win in congress McCain will be lucky to get to Ignauration day without being impeached

And he will never get his judges through

Majority of Americans hate LIBERAL judges

McCain better start hammering on that and emphasize that he needs a congress that will back up his picks

All DC politicians should be reminded that every military member is sworn to uphold the Constitution from all enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC, to the last breath. Either party try and use their un-throttled "power" that threatens the Constitution and all five branches of the armed forces WILL step in.

The people have all these, and more (civilian) guns...aircraft, ships, etc.
