Forgive my ignorance, are the Conservatives the only party on the right?
I know there use to be a libertarian/conservative party based largely in the West, am I correct that they folded into the Conservatives?

Yes. They were the Reform Party, and then became the Canadian Alliance, and then merged with the Progressive Conservatives to make the Conservative Party of Canada we have now.

The Reform Party used to be a libertarian party out of Alberta. What we have today is the reverse of the situation from 1993 to 2004. Then the Liberals saw the Right split its vote three ways. Depending on how low the Liberals poll, the Conservatives could win a majority with as little as 38% of the vote. There are three leftist parties in Canada but one of them is regional (Quebec only) and one is just plain nutty socialist even for Canadian voters. That leaves the long ruling Liberals as the main alternative.
