Even though I get most of my Canadian news from MacLeans, I think it safe to say that the Conservatives are in great shape for a huge win today!

Me, too. I'm conservative, but I nonetheless would love to see an abolition (by constitutional amendment, of course) of the electoral college, and there are some things about the parliamentary system that are excellent.

I think it’s a terrible system, myself. As a dual-citizen, I’ve participated in 20 years of voting in Canada. Voters don’t get to elect the PM. He/She is selected by the party at the party convention. And the Senate is a useless bunch, typically patronage appointments, again, not elected by the people.
The one part I do like is that a crappy gov’t can be tossed out with a no-confidence vote at any time, while in the US, we have to suffer with our mistakes for 4-years.
But I’m through with the Canada election process... I can’t vote any more because I’m no longer a resident. I could have fudged the absentee voting registration form, but that would lower my standards to ACORN levels.... Good luck tonight...GO Conservatives!
