I’m sure each state, and perhaps each county, has different procedures and requirements.

I don’t know the answer to your question. Your local Republican party office will have the answers. The people there have all been though this before and will have many years cumulative experience.

When you call your office, be aware that many offices have only opened in the past few months and will not be in the phone book. An on-line search may turn up the phone number. You may need to visit in person.

Someone at the board of elections office in monmouth county nj is being very clever:

When you enter the room to get an absentee ballot application, the first thing you see is this sticker next to the employees desk which says:

Vote for Big Brown in 2008 with a picture of the horse big brown on it.
