I get the feeling that many Americans who feel ambivalent toward socialism believe it will be “just like they have it today,” except the government will provide healthcare, insurance, food, education, and whatever else good citizens desire. These Americans see no trade-offs, no sacrifices, no impacts to our freedoms as a result of socialism.
The ambivolent Americans will vote that we all become sheep to be sheared for the benefit of the government. Shure the government will have the veterinarian look after the sheep. But, the cost-benefit trades for health care will be made in the government’s interest.
