IQ as a metric is of limited value.

For one thing, the test itself can only offer a snapshot in time. It cannot factor in one's fatigue or stress levels. All it offers is a snapshot in time.

For another, higher IQ does not necessarily equate to superior leadership. I would be very, very surprised if we ever elected a leader with a measured IQ much higher than 140. Any higher than that, and his/her thought processes deviate too far beyond the definitive norm - the 100 IQ peak of the population bell curve. No, public figures tend to be mouthpieces rather than brains.

I read somewhere that McCain's was measured at 138, FWIW.

So, I have you beat, mine is 141(has been since about age 16 when I was first tested), therefore I should be President. I would bet many FReepers have IQs far in excess of 130, some up in the 160-180 range and maybe a trifle higher. I would also bet Sarah Palin’s IQ is higher than Obama’s by a good deal.

I was tested as a 12 year old for placement in the "gifted and talented" programs at the middle school : 141 here (which I believe is also 1 point above MENSA's bare minimum admissions qualification). I find it hard to believe that BHO is as high as 130-he strikes me as an Empty Suit who has had everything (college admission, editorship, etc) handed to him because of Affirmative Action. And his wife is patently stupid, as anyone who's had the dubious pleasure of reading her senior thesis knows. (In all seriousness, it read about as well as a high school term paper hurriedly cranked out a day or two before the due date.) To quote Mr Knightly from Jane Austen's Emma , 'men do not want silly wives'. If BHO were of superior intelligence, he would not have married Michelle, as her company would have bored him-dated her, maybe.
