That magic word is here, and it's taking college campuses by storm.

The abracadabra bon mot is "sustainability."

I am a Mechanical Engineer with 15 years in steam power (coal and nuclear), a brief stint in chemical plant operation, and lately am doing large HVAC design for commercial and industrial customers.

I can't tell you how disgusted I feel these days when in a meeting with an Architect or a customer and they start spouting LEED, Green, and Sustainability. I struggle to keep my mouth shut because I am not in a position that I can tell them to stuff if, but it makes me feel ill.

People with NO engineering background are making engineering decisions based on feel good PC movement propaganda. We are in trouble.
