There is no enthusiasm here for Obama. Unlike the past elections there are no signs and the only bumper stickers I’m seeing are NOBAMA. I’m sure it’s different along the coast but this is not like previous elections.

CA going red pretty much dooms Obama. I’m not sure how likely it is, however.

I’m on the coast in Calif and there is no way Calif is going Red. Too many green nuts and self-help narcissist/socialists here.

I wish it were better. Even my Father, mother, and sister who are very intelligent people have been brainwashed by cable network news. I argue with them frequently. It’s very upsetting to see the power of the media on these innocent people.

My wife and I have observed the same thing here in central Florida: an AMAZING lack of enthusiasm for this election, at least as evidenced by the paucity of yard signs and bumper stickers. Compared to the last 3 or 4 cycles, it’s quite telling. We see many more signs for local races (judges, councilmen, sheriffs, etc).
I would not be surprised that McCain has not ginned up the degree of enthusiasm that we saw for W in 2000 and 2004, coming off of the BillyJeff years. But, for That One - the Messiah - to supposedly be the savior coming off an unpopular war, tanking economy, etc, the outward signs indicate that his support might be a mile wide but only an inch deep. At least here in central Florida, he definitively has not closed the deal.

I live in an “academic” neighborhood. Big, well-kept older houses on the edge of a decent-sized university. A ton of college profs live here, mostly liberals. I don’t see all that many Obama signs or bumper stickers. There were more for Gore and Kerry. I see a few bumper stickers around campus, but not as many as the past few elections for the other ‘Rats.

Of course, this is Tennessee and McCain will win easily here.
