With his electoral prospects fading by the day, Senator John McCain has fallen out with his vice-presidential running mate about the direction of his White House campaign.
McCain has become alarmed about the fury unleashed by Sarah Palin, the moose-hunting “pitbull in lipstick”, against Senator Barack Obama. Cries of “terrorist” and “kill him” have accompanied the tirades by the governor of Alaska against the Democratic nominee at Republican rallies.
Mark Salter, McCain’s long-serving chief of staff, is understood to have told campaign insiders that he would prefer his boss, a former Vietnam prisoner of war, to suffer an “honourable defeat” rather than conduct a campaign that would be out of character – and likely to lose him the election.

HA! I *almost* used that word in a post recently and decided against it lest I be misunderstood and falsely accused of racism.
Polls indicate that about 30% of Hillary voters are seriously disaffected with the DNC.
If half of those vote McCain/Palin (and I’ve spent a *lot* of time on the PUMA blogs, and had some really interesting discussions with some Very Intelligent Folks there) then that’s SIX MILLION VOTES.
And that, even accounting for those who vote Green or whatever, or don’t vote, is enough to cost 0 the election.
And for McCain, but probably in that order. I agree with Dick Morris. This election is no longer about John McCain, but Barack Obama. The question for the squishy middle voters who will decide this election and who are very unhappy with the Bush Adminstration or Republicans generally (rightly or wrongly) is whether they want to take a chance on Obama. The more doubts McCain raises against Obama, the better his chances that these swing voters will swing his way when it comes time to vote. This, and a strong message about curbing government spending while cutting taxes, are McCain's keys to victory.
I am so hopelessly in love with Sarah Palin myself. :)
As Dick Morris so eloquently put it recently: there is a one-word description for any candidate that relies heavily on the yoots vote: LOSER.

I think that Obama’s supporters have misused the word so much that it has no meaning anymore.

Obama’s not as formidable as he’s made out to be. He didn’t run away with the nomination like McCain did, and Hillary has one of the highest disapproval ratings of anyone ever.
Hubby says he appreciates the kind words, but that a proxy kiss is still a kiss and that you can just keep that in whatever state you’re in. haha. :)
He just agreed with you about NJ. He thinks NJ and CA will be the oddities that shock everyone by going for McCain.

Well a story just went up that the RNC-GOP has $160 million in ad money to hit Obama with. The NRA will spend about $40 million more and supposedly Karl Rove through some PAC has more.
They have been waiting quietly to I think ambush Obama. Here it comes.

Hillary will propel McCain into the White House, even though her approval ratings are low.
She has a powerhouse behind her and, for the most part, they will vote McCain.
Check out Hillary Forum, and Hill Buzz. Those are just two of the forums whose folks have experienced the thuggery of the Obama folks.

The problem I sense is that McCain sometimes allows the Obama media to dictate to him what he can and cannot say about Obama. It's a weakness of his, and he is especially vulnerable to it because he has spent much of his political career trying to be a media favorite by bucking his own party on many issues over the years. He needs to forget all that and learn from his own running mate how to handle the media when she is free to do it her way. Tell the full truth about Obama, and let the media chips fall where they may.
The occasional rant is good for the soul.

May McCain win and the Crimson Tide roll right to the National Championship! lol (Our main distraction from politics is Bama football. We had to resort to watching Georgia v. UTenn and LSU v. UF because Bama had the weekend off. Lo and behold, Obama had commercials telling LIES during the UF game. And then there was our trip to the grocery store. We heard political talk from folks in our 90% Mexican-American area, and the talk was not positive for Obama. “We’re gonna have to move if Obama wins. There won’t be anything left worth staying for.”)
