I think people of a certain age come from a time when the mainstream media was absolutely trusted. People who huddled around a radio to hear Roosevelt’s voice, or were glud to the t.v. when Kennedy was assasinated.

Those were comforting, assured voices. People ‘in the know’ who would tell you the truth.

It is very very hard for people to give that up. And so they go on believing everything the media says.

And it is hard, and disconcerting, to think that this huge powerful media is lying to you all day every day.

I have some sympathy for your mom.

I totally agree with you. I'd probably think the same way except for I found a “harmless little fuzzball” on the radio at the age of 18 while on the grounds crew in college in 1991.

She even said I should read some “non-partisan” material such as my morning paper.
