Did you ever see “The Man Who Would be King” with Sean Connery and Michael Caine? It gives an example of what people do when they discover that the leader who has been milking them for money and time really isn’t a god like he claimed to be.
See also “The Karate Kid,” and the scene in which the bad teacher’s students throw their black belts at his feet and walk away when they discover that he is a coward who can’t stand up to Mr. Miyagi.
