Media: Palin's perfectly legal firing of trooper was "unlawful"
Modern Conservative ^ | Christopher Cook

Posted on 10/11/2008 6:46:00 AM PDT by connell

The media is obviously partisan towards the left. Analysis proves it, it's obvious to the observer, and surveys show that most Americans know it to be true.

The degree to which the MSM has gone openly, nakedly pro-Obama is, however, truly striking. They are now more obviously in the tank than ever before in modern memory.

The most recent example is exceptionally disgusting, even for them.

The findings of the Palin "Troopergate" probe allowed the press to feel as though they should use the opportunity to come out with headlines like . . .

and

Unlawfully? UNLAWFULLY?

Check out this analysis by Bill Dyer. Here's a key excerpt:

"I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads."

Here's a note to Mr. Branchflower, who clearly is verbose, but obviously none too keen a scholar of logic: Gov. Palin's so-called "firing" of Monegan (it wasn't a firing, it was a re-assignment to other government duties that he resigned rather than accept) can't simultaneously be a violation of the Ethics Act and "a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority." This, gentle readers, is a 263-page piece of political circus that actually explicitly refutes itself on its single most key page!

So, the report—which has flaws of its own that Dyer discusses—also clearly says that Palin violated no laws. So how does the press report it? As "unlawful."

That's what passes for journalism these days.

PS: Note the picture CBS chose, with Palin's hand on heart, to create what they think is some sort of sense of "irony." At what point do we get to stop saying that the media's behavior is disgusting and start saying that they themselves are disgusting?

It sure took the Obama machine a long time to find something on Palin and splash it in ‘breaking news”. It’s not much but they are making it b-i-g. Did we ever see ACORN or Ayres in ‘breaking news’? Let me answer that...No, of course not.

Let me get this straight:

1. The Alaska AG or Head of the State Troopers (can't remember which) conducted an investigation and cleared the Governor.

2. The 'independent investigator' or the State Legislature cleared the Governor.

Both saying she broke no laws. However she abuse her power, that's interesting. Makes it sound like she is the first politician to "abuse" their power.

I thought about a list of politicians who abused their power might be appropriate here, many for abuses worse than this. But I didn't want to bore you whit what you already know.

It is obvious the MSM is hanging their careers on an Obama victory. The only way to shut them down is for a McCain victory. They will never let up though, and because McCain has been down in THEIR polls, if he were to win, they will have fodder of another “stolen election.”

She didn’t fire the POS, she reassigned IT. IT chose to leave. There is an important distinction here.

Let's see... she's cleared of any wrong doing in removing Monegan, but is found to have perpetrated an "ethics violation," which is considered an "abuse of power." However, 1000 pages can't relate how she supposedly received "personal or financial gain."

Can someone please tell me what "personal or financial gain" Sarah Palin received? It appears that "abuse of power" was put in there solely to attract the exact headlines that this report is receiving; however, the report contradicts the phrase and doesn't detail any personal or financial gain that would prescribe an ethics violation.

Palin gets a manufactured slap on the wrist in a political witchhunt, and it's all over the media. Obama's hip deep in causing the greatest economic crisis since The Great Depression, a decade-long voter fraud scam, and an attempted overthrow of the Chicago Public School System with a terrorist, not to mention Rezko, and indoctrinating his children in a an anti-American racists church, but the Media won't touch those stories.

Now try and tell me that there is no Obama bias in the MSM.

Wooten is still a Trooper so whatever Gov. Palin wanted to happen and regardless how much she talked about it happening, nothing happened.

Some of the Alaska politicians behind this witch hunt should be hoping that after November, Vice President Palin has bigger fish to fry. If Governor Sarah returns to Alaska with her 80% approval ratings, there's going to be some political careers shortened.

The dominant Maryland dem state legislature and the compliant Baltimore Sun did this same thing to previous Republican governor Ehrlich for almost his entire term. More time and money was spent by legislators investigating his "firing practices" of political appointees than to a serious problem with the Gas and Electric company. Ehrlich is lousy with defending himself and kept talking about "at-will" employees, which is not self-explanatory. He lost his re-election bid even though he had a 60% epproval rating only a few months before the election.

Maryland is a test state for national dem politics. Ehrlich was defeated by the failed mayor of Baltimore City whose slogan was "Believe", not believe in anything, just believe. Just like "Change."

I wish congress would do something useful and pass a law to deal with truth in media.  The outright lies and manipulation of the truth should be considered an abuse of power by the media.  As far as what Palin did, it was not illegal, nuff said.

The question is, is, how can we believe any media at all, left or right? If the media on the left is so screwed up, how can we possibly have faith in the media on the right that claims to be factual? How can we believe anything aside from evolution is a crock?!

The heart of the report that the Leftwingnuts and their running dog lackeys at CBS are hanging their hats on is this statement on page 65:

"compliance with the code of ethics is not optional" and that the efforts to benefit her personal interests was a violation of "trust."

All of which sounds fair and balanced and reasonable until you realize that the "personal interest" at stake here was the fact that Wooten (the trooper) had threatened to murder her father if he hired a lawyer.

No doubt there's not a court in the nation that would rule that a "code of ethics" could take precedence over the concern of a child for the safety of a parent in the face of a threat of murder being made by a jackbooted agent of the state.

Earlier we'd asked if the Democrats were so smarmy that they'd advocate tasering little kids and murdering fathers in law, and there we have it. Democrats, in fact, adhere to a code of conduct that makes it acceptable to murder and torture the innocent.

Time to take out some more CBS and other MSM "personalities". Dan Rather wasn't the only brain damaged pervert ~ our chores are not done.
