Facts on McCain Health Plan
Real Clear Politics ^ | October 10, 2008 | Tom Coburn and Richard Burr

For a campaign that is offering a new kind of politics, it is unfortunate the Obama-Biden team has decided to sell its marquee policy proposal - a government-controlled health care plan - with the familiar Washington attacks that replace honest debate with scare tactics. Instead of telling voters what is new and positive about their plan, the Obama-Biden ticket is emphasizing the spurious charge that John McCain wants to tax people's health insurance....http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/10/americans_deserve_a_real_healt.html

In the last debate, McCain said “Do the math” concerning the two opposing health care plans. Well, here’s the math:

Obama-Biden are pretending McCain-Palin want to do away with the current individual tax exclusion without replacing it with a far more generous tax credit. The fact is Americans in every tax bracket would enjoy enormous savings under the McCain-Palin plan, with lower income workers receiving the most benefit. Individuals earning up to $63,700 and receiving a $12,000 health insurance policy through their employers would enjoy a net benefit of $3,200 while wealthy Americans earning nearly $350,000 would receive $800 in net benefits.

When our daughter recently went in for her mammogram there was a woman there who had flown from England to get the same test. Even though her mother and sister had breast cancer, she could not get a mammogram until a certain age EVEN THOUGH THEY FELT A LUMP! Apparently an ultrasound is sufficient to diagnose in England. It’s remarkable how our people take our healthcare system for granted.

Is the $12,000 in their example just tacked on to the employee’s current yearly salary?

For example, an employee earning $63,700 is now taxed on $75,700 - $5,000, for total taxable income of $70,700?

But is the guy still only getting 63,700 in total pay for the year?

Something to tell your any friends affected by propaganda:
The McCain-Palin solution is based three core principles. First, a person's ability to afford health care should not depend on whether they work for an employer who offers health insurance. Second, wealthy Americans with expensive health plans do not deserve a bigger tax benefit than working class Americans. And finally, workers should be able to pick the health care plan that best meets their needs, and they should be able to take it with them when they change jobs.

the government has made healthcare unaffordable. my mother is on hospice who bills medicare for their service. they bill 6,000 dollars a month and she gets a vist by rn 1 time a month, lpn 1 time a week and aid 3 times a week. lots of profit in the industry. if i hired it done privately it would cost less than 2,000 dollars a month. max time they spend with my mother is 20 min.

Here in PA there is heavy rotation of a radio ad saying McCain is going to tax health care benefits for both the employer and the employee. There is also a TV version of the ad.

I have yet to see a McCain rebuttal. Obama's ads are very convincing to the average person and will do a lot of damage to McCain.

McCain has to explain his health care policy - he absolutely cannot let Obama do it for him.

I’ve been seeing that ad, too. The One is a despicable, lying Marxist. I am praying for a McCain victory, then hopefully, Rezko will spill the beans on him.

He’s a slimy snake oil salesman who is the most unqualified person EVER to run for the presidency. Unfortunately, if he wins, we’ll probably have 8 years of him. I’m one of those conspiracy theorists that these hedge funds are being manipulated by wealthy liberals, and the market will “miraculously” become well again after The One is elected.

Well, here’s the math:

The reason healthcare has ballooned in costs and failed at delivery (in certain areas) is solely due to the meddling of the Government and Congress in the relationship of the Health Care Providers and the Patient !!

exactly, same here in Michigan. One of my co-workers the other day told me that McCain scares her because he is going to raise taxes on health insurance. I told her don’t believe the radio ads and look it up for yourself. I told her she is going to hear a lot of mis-info in Obama ads.

I usually find it best to visit the source directly to get the facts — here it is straight from John McCain:

Yes, I am mystified why McCain does not answer the Obama Health Smear against him.

The are running the Obama lies about McCain's health plan in Florida, every few minutes.
