Harry - I think that the only way some people are going to wake up is if they are hit with a clue by four. Disaster of some kind - everything that they are addicted to/making the center of their lives taken away. Fashion, gadgets, shopping, MSM/movie/etc crap all gone, etc. Then they will be face to face with their empty lives and empty hearts, and then their character will have to come to the fore.

I am sure that many are so determined to keep sleeping that nothing (in this life) will help them. “None so blind as he who doesn’t want to see”.

I do think disasters of one kind or another (or several in a row, or all at once, who knows) will wake some up. Not that I’m wishing for disaster. A healing crisis, maybe.

There is great wisdom in LJ’s response to you. The underlying message is, “suffering is the beginning of wisdom.’ Your friend must suffer the consequences of his freely made choices. Suffering in turn, can lead to wisdom, or to pathologies, such as bitterness and hence rejection of and active rebellion against God and the created order, or to such deformations as ‘the door-mat syndrome,’ the ‘maiden in distress,’ and so on.
